With the addition of true survival mechanics to Fallout 76, food and water has become more important than ever before. As such, finding consumables which don’t apply radiation is vital. In the case of water, this requires finding or making Fallout 76 Purified Water. Fortunately, there are a few different methods available to you.
How and Where to Find Fallout 76 Purified Water
Of course, Fallout 76 Purified Water can simply turn up in containers or other loot sources. While you are likely to find at least a few this way, it’s not a reliable source, especially when you need to keep sating your in-game thirst. Luckily, you can craft it yourself, although you’ll need to complete a few steps in order to do so. Firstly, you’ll need to acquire the Plan: Water Filter item. This can be found in the Pioneer Scout Camp north of Fallout 76.
To craft a Water Filter, you’ll need 1 Adhesive, 3 Bleached Dogwood, and 1 Glowing Fungus. Adhesive can usually be found in loot or in many old ruins. Bleached Dogwood, on the other hand, grows on certain trees. Glowing Fungus is also quite common, but look for rivers or other sources of water to find it quickly. Once you have a Water Filter, you need Dirty Water to filter. You can collect this from any water source, including taps, pumps, rivers, and so on. Be sure you choose “Collect” and not “Drink”; drinking Dirty Water applies 6 rads.
If you’re struggling to find the parts for the Water Filter, you can use Boiled Water in the meantime. You can craft this yourself at any Cooking Station using 1 Wood and 1 Dirty Water. It’s not as good as Purified Water, but it only applies 2 rads when you drink it, instead of 6. More importantly though, it will restore thirst, and there’s no chance of it causing disease.
