One of the most interesting aspects to the new Battlefield 5 Firestorm mode are Reinforcements. Making their way into the mode from the main game, these powerful assets can be activated by squads who find flare guns around the map. There are four Battlefield 5 Firestorm Reinforcements in total, and if used tactically, they can give players a major advantage. Of course, getting your hands on them isn’t easy.
How to Get Battlefield 5 Firestorm Reinforcements
A big difference between the core game and Firestorm is that anybody can use Reinforcements. In the other Battlefield 5 multiplayer modes, Reinforcements can only be called in by squad leaders. Moreover, squad leaders must spend Requisition Points to use them. The Battlefield 5 Firestorm Reinforcements, on the other hand, can be called in for free by using a flare gun which anybody can find and equip. However, these flare guns aren’t as easy to find as most weapons and gadgets. Typically, you can find flare guns among the reward items you gain by completing Objectives, especially Re-supply Points. According to DICE, these Reinforcement flare guns; “are almost never found in the open.”
The objectives you can complete for a chance at getting a flare gun vary in size and difficulty. The simplest are Strongboxes, which are random loot caches and the most common type of Objective. Next up are Safes, which require more time to crack open and also appear at random. Unlike Strongboxes, they won’t appear on your mini-map or HUD, making them harder to find. The third type are Supply Drops, which fall randomly from the sky but trigger a signal flare upon landing. They can contain valuable loot, but are of course risky to approach.
Finally, you have Re-supply Points and Vehicle Lockups. The former are the best places to find flare guns. During the course of a match, these will activate within the playable area of the map. You’ll need to capture it in order to claim the loot inside, likely pitting you against other players trying to claim the contents. Every player is notified when a Re-supply Point becomes active, and you’ll need to hold it against enemy attack while you capture it.
The Four Battlefield 5 Firestorm Reinforcements Available In-Game
Once you have a flare gun, you can make use of one of the following four Battlefield 5 Firestorm Reinforcements.
- Artillery Strike: A highly destructive Reinforcement, Artillery Strike bombards a huge area with explosives. This causes massive damage to destructible structures, along with anybody unfortunate enough to be in the area.
- Supply Drop: While Supply Drops occur randomly throughout the game, you can also use a flare gun to call in your own. This will drop a cache of supplies for you to loot.
- Vehicle Drop: If you need to get somewhere fast and there aren’t any usable vehicles nearby, you can use a flare gun to call in a new one. The vehicle will parachute down to wherever you designate.
- V-1 Rocket: The most powerful Reinforcement in Firestorm, the V-1 Rocket is a massive and devastating weapon. Anybody caught in its blast radius will take enormous damage and be knocked down if they somehow survive.
