How the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Realism Playlist Works

If you’re one of the minority of players who have gotten to grips with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare campaign, then you may well be familiar with how Realism works; the topmost difficulty setting which disabled HUD elements. As part of their latest update, Infinity Ward have now added a Modern Warfare Realism Moshpit playlist. As such, before you jump into this deadly set of game modes, here’s everything you need to know about how Realism works in multiplayer.

How the Modern Warfare Realism Moshpit Playlist Works

The core difference between Realism and standard play is, of course, the lack of most HUD elements. Realism strips away most of the game’s HUD, leaving only a scant few features. This means no hit markers, no point tracking, no mini-map, etc. However, there are less obvious differences too. Health regeneration is limited to standard, for instance, while headshot damage is massively increased.

The new Realism Moshpit playlist features a whole host of different maps and game modes. For maps, you can expect to see Azhir Cave, Gun Runner, and Hackney Yard, including the nighttime variants, which make Realism combat even more intense. Mode-wise, the playlist includes Domination, Hardpoint, Headquarters, and Kill Confirmed. In any of these modes, UAV killstreaks become much more valuable. Without any HUD elements, the UAV is one of the only ways in which you can pinpoint enemy locations.

It’s worth remembering that friendly fire is actually off on the Realism Moshpit playlist, so you don’t need to worry about accidentally killing your teammates. However, bear in mind that, without other means of detecting players, your opponents may pay much more attention to gunfire. As such, over-zealous shooting may bring a lot of unwanted attention your way. If you do go down during Realism, be sure not to skip the killcam; another good way of seeing where your enemies are located.
