With NBA 2K1 there are several different forms of in-game currency. The Virtual Currency aka NBA 2K VC is one we looked at in a previous guide, as it helps with MyTeam and MyCareer/MyPlayer. In this guide, we’ll look at how to get MT and Tokens in NBA 2K21 MyTeam as well as what they’re used for.
How to Get MT in NBA 2K21 MyTeam
The MT is extremely useful for NBA 2K21 MyTeam fans. MT is basically MyTeam Points and can be used to buy packs at the Pack Market as well as players or other cards in the Auction House. Therefore, the more of these you can accumulate, the better.
While getting more Virtual Currency is a bit tougher or expensive to do, getting MT is something offered in many ways. For example, you can play through various parts of MyTeam such as Challenges where MT is offered.
An example is the Playoff Stoppers Challenges shown below with 300 MT available for finishing each.
Other features in the game such as Domination, 5-on-5, and Multiplayer games will also bring you MT for you to use in spending on your MyTeam roster.
By the way, MT will stack up based on how you perform in games too. So as you and your team get better stats and bigger wins, you’ll see the MT added after games.
Of course, one way many gamers are able to get MT is through their Auction House listings. As you get more cards, you’ll learn to start listing them for bids or Buy Now offers to add to your total MT. Check out the prices on the early Diamond cards in NBA 2K21 MyTeam.
How to Get Tokens in the game
Tokens are a specific currency just for the NBA 2K21 MyTeam mode. With these, you can buy players offered through the Token Market. That marketplace offers different levels of cards, each for different amounts of Tokens. It’s available at the Pack Market screen by choosing “Rewards.”
Each card color (level) costs a certain amount of Tokens. For example, the first level of cards are three Tokens each, with the next level at six Tokens, and so forth. As shown below, Pink Diamond cards and Galaxy Opal get expensive.
Tokens are available in a number of ways, and for free. One of these is just by logging into the MyTeam mode as there are free daily rewards. During the first week of 2K21’s release, there was a free Token available for two of the days of logging in.
In addition, Tokens are available through playing in games in NBA 2K21 MyTeam. The Single Player Triple Threat offers rewards as shown below, with Tokens available for various wins. In addition, Tokens are often possible as free Vault Prizes in the Triple Threat games.
There are also the various Single Player Challenges which can bring MT as mentioned above, as well as Tokens. For example, the Week 1 Tip off had a reward of 2 Tokens for completion. Other Challenges include Spotlight and Signature.
In addition, the new NBA 2K21 MyTeam aspect is the Season and leveling up concept. As you move up in levels you’ll gain specific rewards. For example, early on in 2K21, they were offering one Token at Level 3, three Tokens at Level 10, and five Tokens at Level 17.
Another free way to acquire Tokens and MT is by entering Locker Codes. Often the codes offer prizes including Packs, MT, and Tokens.
As seen above, Tokens and MT are free to get in NBA 2K21. It just takes some grinding through a bunch of games, or showing up to sign into the mode. However, don’t expect to rack them up without some effort in the game.
