Getting access to the Valorant Closed Beta isn’t easy. At present, the only legitimate way to gain access (if you aren’t a streamer who was given a code by Riot), is to watch Valorant streams on Twitch and hope you get picked at random to receive an access code. However, if you are lucky enough to get in, only five of the Valorant Agents are available to play straight away. The other five are initially locked, but you can unlock them all before the end of the beta.
How to Unlock the Five Valorant Agents in the Closed Beta
When you first access the Valorant Closed Beta, you’ll have five Agents to play as; Brimstone, Jett, Phoenix, Sage, and Sova. However, there are ten Agents total, and the remaining five must be unlocked before you can use them. These five are Breach, Cypher, Omen, Raze, and Viper. Fortunately, you can unlock all five before the end of the beta period, providing you know what to do.
First of all, you can unlock two new Agents simply be levelling up. When you first access the Valorant beta, you’ll receive a mission which requires you to level up. If you open the “Latest” screen in the main menu, you can find a progress bar to show you how much XP you need to level up. When you reach Level 5, you’ll be able to choose one of the locked Agents to unlock. Then, you’ll be able to unlock a second Agent when you reach level 10.
To unlock the remaining three Agents, you’ll need to complete Contracts. On the Collection screen of the Valorant main menu, you’ll find the option to activate Contracts, with a different one available for each of the locked Agent. Only one can be active at a time. You complete these Contracts by earning in-game XP while the Contract is active. At levels 1-4 of the Contract, you’ll earn new cosmetic items, before finally unlocking the new Agent at level 5. Note that you can also pay 200 Valorant Points to unlock each Contract level, if you don’t want to spend the time earning XP to unlock them.
