Power Armour is synonymous with the Fallout series, and in Fallout 76, it’s just as important as ever. However, the mechanics of Fallout 76 Power Armour are a bit different to how they worked in Fallout 4. Fortunately, if you can get your hands on a suit, you should be able to use it much more than in previous games. Note that there is a strange Power Armour bug in the game at present. It seems to occur only rarely, however.
How to Use the Fallout 76 Power Armour
Gamers who played Fallout 4 will already have a rough idea of how the Fallout 76 Power Armour works. When you find Power Armour somewhere in West Virginia, it takes the form of a Frame with certain armour parts attached. When this Frame is powered with a Fusion Core, you can wear the armour. However, with the addition of multiplayer and level requirements for items, things are somewhat different in Fallout 76.
Firstly, when you find a Power Armour Frame, you may find that you’re unable to enter it because the armour on the Frame is too high level. In this case, don’t make the mistake of thinking you can’t use it. Transfer the armour pieces from the Frame to your inventory until it’s empty; an empty Frame has no level requirement and can be worn freely. Once you’ve worn a Power Armour Frame once, it cannot be worn by other players, even when you take it off. Note that your Frame will only function as long as it receives power from a Fusion Core. These are relatively rare. However, they appear to last longer than in Fallout 4.
In Fallout 4, Power Armour Frame would stay wherever you left them. In Fallout 76, this mechanic is different once you have claimed a Frame. If you leave it behind, it will remain in place for a few minutes before disappearing and appearing in your inventory, along with any armour pieces on the Frame. If you find transporting a Power Armour Frame too heavy, be sure that you have the armour pieces attached to the Frame; in this case, the individual pieces won’t add their weight to that of the Frame when it’s in your inventory.
