Infinity Ward just posted a new job listing for a “next-gen title.” The unannounced next-generation title is most likely the Call of Duty 2019 game. This, in turn, hints towards a 2019 release date for the PS5 and/or Xbox Scarlet. The job posting was released on LinkedIn a week ago. The job is for a temporary Associate Game Designer.
Infinity Ward has hired temporary staff members in the past. This typically happens in the final year of development on the next COD game. In addition, we know that the next studio up to release a game after Black Ops 4 is the Infinite Warfare studio. Because of all that information, it’s no surprise at all that it is hiring for the 2019 COD game.

However, what is surprising, though, is that Infinity Ward openly admits that the title it is hiring for is a next-generation title. You can read the entire quote for yourself below. This is what the job posting on LinkedIn says:
“Come work with the game industry’s brightest on an exciting, unannounced next-gen title. In this hands-on role, you’ll collaborate with experienced Designers on creating and implementing new game features.”
This statement plus what we know about the typical Call of Duty development cycles hints that the 2019 COD game is a next-generation title. However, that isn’t all we can glean from this info. In fact, with this, we can predict that at least one of the next-generation consoles will release in 2019.
It could be the PlayStation 5 or the codenamed Xbox Scarlet, or both. It’s no surprise that Infinity Ward is developing the 2019 Call of Duty game for those systems either. Call of Duty: Ghosts was also developed by the studio and was a launch title for both the PS4 and Xbox One. However, it is worth noting that this is all still speculation. It remains to be seen what the 2019 COD game will be. Will it be Ghosts 2, Infinite Warfare 2, or even Modern Warfare 4?
