After more than a few requests from players over the course of the last few weeks, Infinity Ward has now announced the arrival of Duos to Call of Duty: Warzone. The new two-player co-op mode is now available to play in-game, for free, offering players a new way to experience Warzone.
The New Call of Duty: Warzone Duos Mode
Until now, the only way to play Call of Duty: Warzone was in a group of three to four. Now, Infinity Ward is allowing pairs to drop into the Warzone for the first time, although it remains to be seen whether Duos is a permanent inclusion or not. (It’s possible that the developers will cycle it out after it has been available for a while in favour of another new mode.) For now at least, however, Duos is available to play.

The new Duos mode in Warzone is a simple variant of the game’s standard Battle Royale mode. At present, Duos isn’t available for Plunder. Aside from the change in squad size, the mode has few other changes. Players can still be revived by their sole teammate if they go down, of course. Similarly, a dead player can still be revived by their squadmate from a Buy Station. Of course, limiting squads to only two players could make Warzone a bit more lethal. After all, in a standard game a downed player might have three teammates who can revive them. In Duos, they’ll only have one. Of course, it may also result in smaller engagements, as squads of four won’t be wandering around together.
While the mechanics of Warzone may not be very different in Warzone, the game’s meta could well shift considerably. “You may need to consolidate multiple roles onto one Operator using the Overkill perk,” explains Infinity Ward; “Assault rifle – sniper builds are great, but if neitehr of you has an answer for vehicles or a close-range battle with a shotgun, you may be in trouble.”
