The Far Cry series has spanned a whole host of landscapes; the tropical paradise of the Rook Islands, the mountains of Kyrat, and now the rugged hills of Montana. Before now, however, players have never been able to make their own areas. Far Cry 5 is the first game in the series to include a map editor. Some enterprising players have already started putting it to good use.
The Island from ‘Lost’
YouTuber Un-Break-Able recently uploaded a video showcasing one such creation of theirs. The YouTuber was able to recreate, in as much detail as possible, the entirety of the island from the television series ‘Lost’. While the map size prevented him from creating the island to scale, he nevertheless plotted it in great detail. In his video’s description, he stated that, “everything from as small as Sun’s garden to all 9 Dharma Initiative Stations are included. The map cannot unfortunately be made to scale but was made as large as possible.”
Lost was a series notorious for distorting reality. The show ran for six seasons, from 2004 to 2010. It increasingly blended supernatural and sci-fi elements and quickly developed a devoted following. Ubisoft actually released a Lost video game in 2006, entitled Lost: Via Domus. The game, which released on the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3, received mixed reviews. Now, twelve years later, fans of the series can revisit the island in another Ubisoft title thanks to Un-Break-Able.
Due to the warped nature of Lost’s reality, Un-Break-Able did have to take some guesses when it came to the layout of the island. “Some assumptions had to be made,” he said, “Such as the Hydra Station where we saw many of these rooms but how they were organized and connected in the complex was impossible to determine.”
Un-Break-Able’s map is available on Far Cry 5’s PS4 version. The map is entitled ‘LOST TV Series.’
