Tokyo Game Show 2018 is full of surprises, and this one from Bandai Namco’s Jump Force may actually take the cake. We’ll set the scene: you’ve been drafted into one of the most elite, task forces of all time, where you’ll be standing shoulder-to-shoulder with some people who, in our humble opinion, are a lot more awesome than all of Marvel and DC combined. That’s right, in a surprising twist of fate, Bandai Namco has confirmed that players will be able to create their very own custom character to fight alongside Goku, Naruto, and others.
This news comes from Polygon, who reported that “during a presentation at Bandai Namco’s headquarters in Tokyo, the publisher offered a peek at a custom female avatar modeled after One Piece’s Monkey D. Luffy.” As you can see from the featured picture above, the female avatar is indeed wearing a costume that is similar to Luffy, as well as adorning the same facial scar. It seems safe to say that if we can customize our characters with Luffy’s clothes, we’ll most likely be able to try on other character’s clothes too.
While we’re not sure how extensive the character customization is, there are already a lot of interesting characters in Jump Force so the possibilities are endless.
Another thing that we’re keen to speculate about is your character’s abilities. Will they, like their costumes, be customized by picking and choosing other character’s powers, such as Goku’s Kamehameha and Sasuke Uchia’s Chidori? That was not answered by Bandai Namco at the conference, however, we have reached out in order to get some answers.
In other Jump Force news, it was recently revealed that a Collector’s Edition would be up for purchase soon. It will include the game, the game’s season pass and much more. Click here to find out more information.
