While there are still many unanswered questions about the PlayStation 5, one thing we know about it for sure is that it will feature an SSD. This will also be true of Xbox Scarlett. What does this mean for the future of gaming? Well, some developers have been sharing insights lately about what types of concrete benefits we can look forward to as a result of PS5 SSD technology. And now, we have more insights thanks to the developer of Killsquad.
What the Killsquad Developer Said About the PS5 SSD
Novarama’s Ricardo Seligmann told Gamingbolt that the power of the SSD allows them to “quickly load content, making load screens less annoying, and allowing us to load more enemies, particle effects, and environments on the fly without compromising the performance.” He further added that in general, the technology should allow for games which are “more diverse and interesting” in the future than those of the past. While that statement is pretty ambiguous, it is curious to wonder what it may mean.
This is not the first news we’ve had regarding what SSD technology will make possible for the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett. We’ve also heard that we can expect lightning-fast load times. Tired of loading screens while you are playing your favorite open world games? On PS5, load screens may be a thing of the past. So we’ll just be able to walk seamlessly around open worlds, exploring them without interruptions that disrupt immersion.
