What Is Kingdom Hearts 2.9?
Let’s go ahead and get this out of the way. 2.9 is a sort of prequel, we guess, that is mostly just a clever joke from the developers. The series has been long made fun of for ridiculous titles like Kingdom Hearts 2.5 and 0.2 and 358/2 Days. Rightfully so, as they are completely hilarious and totally bizarre.
The developers in Kingdom Hearts 3 decided to joke on this themselves. You actually see the Kingdom Hearts 2.9 title screen before you see the screen for Kingdom Hearts 3 in the game. While you could look at it as a prequel of sorts, it’s actually part of this game. Now, what it entails are slight spoilers for the beginning of the game so read on if you dare.
Of course, it’s not a huge spoiler since it’s mainly just for the structure of the beginning. Kingdom Hearts 2.9 makes up the tutorial and first main world in the game, which is Olympus. You see it after completing that world. Then, later on, you actually are, we guess, playing the main Kingdom Hearts 3 game since the title shows up then.
