Square Enix is continuing to make good on its promise to release more and more info about Kingdom Hearts 3. For those of you who were lamenting the lack of info for so many years, this is for you. The latest batch of details this time around comes from an interview that Dengeki PlayStation had with the game’s Director Tetsuya Nomura.
The interview delved into a few different topics than interviews we’ve covered previously like the online elements, chances of a demo, and more. It was confirmed a while back that Kingdom Hearts 3 would have online elements when it releases. In what form that online connectivity would be, no one knew at the time. Unfortunately, we still don’t know and neither does Square Enix apparently.
Nomura revealed in the interview that “several plans are currently under consideration” for the Kingdom Hearts 3 online elements. In addition, he notes that there might not be enough space to include everything that the team wants to for its final release. That leaves the door open on what the online component(s) of the game could be.
The Kingdom Hearts 3 online elements could be something like a leaderboard for the previously confirmed minigames that you can participate in. Another possibility could be a competitive trial for the Gummi ship. Finally, we could see a type of optional side mode that has trials where you attempt to defeat enemies as fast as possible. We won’t know what it really is, though, until early next year.
In the meantime, many fans might have been interested in a Kingdom Hearts 3 demo. We regret to inform that that most likely won’t be happening. Nomura revealed that he currently has no leeway in order to tackle a demo. However, we now know that it seems this truly will be the conclusion to the saga as he noted that “everyone’s stories will wrap up in Kingdom Hearts 3” when it launches on January 29th, 2019.
