Even though it’s half a year away, we are suddenly getting tons of information about Kingdom Hearts 3. This time, it’s from an interview that Director Tetsuya Nomura had with Famitsu in its latest issue. If that sounds really familiar, that’s because Nomura also released an interview in the same issue about his other highly anticipated JRPG, Final Fantasy 7 Remake. His details for that game were sparse but he gave a ton of details for Sora’s next adventure.
First and foremost, Nomura tackled the subject of the, hopefully, final delay to January 2019. Up until the release date announcement, many fans like us truly believed they could play it this year but we will have to wait just a bit longer. According to Nomura, the slight delay wasn’t actually because of needing more development time but from adjustments with parties involved.
Fans can be happy to know that there won’t be a Final Mix version of Kingdom Hearts 3 or a season pass for the game. But there are plans for Square Enix to release DLC for the game after its release. At the very least, fans can be happy to know that there won’t be a “better” or more complete version of the game later on down the line. The rest of the details that Nomura gave in the interview are story-related so stop here if you want no spoilers whatsoever.
Anna and Elsa from Frozen won’t join your party, surprisingly, but that world’s storyline will take place during the events of the movie. As such, you can expect to see “Let It Go” at some point. As hinted at in the most recent Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer, the new Pirates of the Carribean world will take place during the third movie At World’s End.
The glimpse of Ratatouille in the trailer is part of a cooking minigame and not a full world. Interestingly enough, the scene of Sora dancing with Rapunzel in Tangled is also a rhythm-based minigame. Lastly, there is a “secret movie” in the works for Kingdom Hearts 3, but it hasn’t been finalized yet.
