Lag can be annoying. It can cost you a kill, or even a match. But did you know it can result in some pretty crazy glitches too? Recently, lag led to a bizarre body-switching bug in Apex Legends. A player suddenly found themselves controlling their teammate’s character instead of their own.
Check Out the Body-Switching Bug in Apex Legends
You can view the post below, which includes a video. The player titled the post, “I lagged so hard I became my teammate.”
In the video, you see the player playing as Wraith. Then, there is some lag, and the player has a hard time moving. Suddenly, the player is in a new spot, and is able to move like normal. But the player is no longer controlling their own Wraith character. Instead, they are controlling their teammate’s Revenant character. Meanwhile, their own character is standing there frozen. Suffice to say, it is pretty strange to look at.
What caused this weird error? Well, along with the lag, it probably had to do with the two being on the same network. The system mixed them up somehow. As you might have guessed, Revenant was booted when the Wraith player suddenly found themselves in their body. When the original Revenant player logged back in, the Wraith player was kicked off again and saw an error message. Alas, they did not capture the message to share.
So, if you are playing with a friend on the same network, this is something to be aware of. It could happen to you too at some point. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem all that common.
