Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary was the last-ever Borderlands 2 DLC, released unexpectedly, just prior to the launch of Borderlands 3. Since then, Borderlands 2 has come to the Nintendo Switch, but not this last DLC pack. However, that has now changed, with the last DLC release finally launching on the Switch as of yesterday.
Final Borderlands 2 DLC Now on Nintendo Switch
“Join the Crimson Raiders and stop a deranged villain hell-bent on claiming the Vault Map all for himself,” writes Gearbox; “Borderlands 2: Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary is out now on Nintendo Switch!”
This is the last Borderlands 2 DLC to make its way to the Nintendo Switch after an extensive delay. The Borderlands Legendary Collection, which includes Borderlands 2 and all of its original DLC, launched on the Switch around five months ago. The Switch version of the game boasts several new features which the original versions lacked. Specifically, Gearbox developed new motion controls specifically for the Switch. These, according to Gearbox, are meant to help players “line up headshots,” among other things. The Legendary Collection also features four-player co-op, with two-player split-screen co-op if you have your Switch in docked mode.
Now, after a five-month wait, Switch users can finally get their hands on the last Borderlands 2 DLC. Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary originally launched at E3 2019, on the very same day it was announced. (A few months prior to the launch of Borderlands 3.) Notably, the expansion serves to bridge the gap between the stories of Borderlands 2 & 3, setting the stage for the more recent title.
What’s more, owners of the Borderlands Legendary Collection on Switch can actually claim a copy of the DLC for free. However, this special offer will only be available for one month. After the 3rd of December, you’ll have to buy the DLC as normal if you want to get your hands on it. As such, Switch users should act sooner rather than later to claim their copy.
