Lauren Hissrich Returns to Twitter and Hints That The Witcher Script is Complete

After a brief hiatus, the showrunner of the Witcher Netflix series, Lauren Hissrich, has returned to Twitter. Hissrich announced her return yesterday via a Tweet, along with a hint that work may have finished on the series’ script. When her hiatus began, Hissrich had said that it was due to needing to focus on writing the series finale.

The Witcher Netflix Series Showrunner Returns to Twitter

Since the very early stages of pre-production on the Witcher Netflix series, Lauren Hissrich has been consistently keeping fans up-to-date via Twitter. She announced the opening of the show’s writers’ room, the start of auditions, and the casting of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, among many other things. Recently, she announced that she would be taking a hiatus from Twitter to focus on writing the series finale. However, it seems that she didn’t need too much time, as she has returned after just a couple of weeks. The timing certainly supports the notion that her hiatus had nothing to do with the backlash from a certain group of so-called fans who have decried the idea of casting a BAME actress in the role of Ciri; a backlash which occurred at roughly the same time as Hissrich’s hiatus began.

Lauren Hissrich Seems to Indicate That the Script is Complete, or Nearly So

Hissrich’s tweet was accompanied by a picture of what would seem to be the completed finale script. Assuming that the script has been written in roughly chronological order (it may not be); this could well indicate that the script is almost complete. If that were the case, then it may not be long before the series moves on to filming. As such, it shouldn’t be long before the rest of the main cast are announced. Henry Cavill was announced well in advance of any other casting decisions; most likely because he was already in talks for the role before auditions even began. Fans should certainly keep an eye out for more casting announcements in the near future.
