With the upcoming launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1, Call of Duty: Warzone is also set to gain new content. At present, this mysterious expansion is under wraps, but a recent leak may have revealed its title; Call of Duty: Warzone Rebirth Island.
What is Call of Duty: Warzone Rebirth Island?
In a since-deleted tweet, alongside several other leaked images, known leaker Call of Duty Leaks revealed a low-resolution title image for Call of Duty: Warzone Rebirth Island. Behind the title you can see a small but densely built-up island. While it’s impossible to know for sure what Rebirth Island is, the most obvious guess would be that the island is an all-new map. Call of Duty: Warzone has only ever had a single map since it launched earlier this year. With the release of Black Ops Cold War, it was always likely that it would finally get a second map.
The reason for this is because of how Warzone exists parallel to both Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War. Throughout the life cycle of Modern Warfare, all of the new weapons, cosmetics, and so on were usable in Warzone. While the same is true in theory for Black Ops Cold War, the game features a totally different roster of weapons. (Weapons from a different time period, no less.) As such, it would make sense for Warzone to get a second map featuring the weapons and vehicles from Cold War so that both games’ content can be usable simultaneously.
Of course, we currently don’t know for sure whether Rebirth Island is a new map. Based purely on the image, it does appear to be smaller than the existing Verdansk map. While that may not be the case – or may even be intentional – it’s possible that the island is designed for a smaller alternate game mode or even a special limited-time event. For now, fans will have to wait and see.
