Leak Claims Resident Evil 8 Will be Revealed at PS5 Event This Week
According to a recent leak, Resident Evil fans may get an important announcement later this week, at Sony’s postponed PS5 game reveal event. If the leak is to be believed, then one of the upcoming PS5 games due to be revealed during the event is Resident Evil 8.
The Upcoming PS5 Game Reveal Event
Sony’s big PS5 game reveal event was originally scheduled for the 4th of June. However, as protests spread around the world against racial injustice and police brutality, Sony made the decision to postpone the event in solidarity. (And so as not to distract from the protests and more important messages elsewhere.) Now, that event has been rescheduled for this Thursday; the 11th of June.
For some time now, rumours about Resident Evil 8 and its announcement have been circulating online. Of course, there is no concrete information to go on; as such, this purported leak should be taken with a grain of salt, as always. However, a noted source of Resident Evil leaks, who had previously claimed that RE8 would be announced by August, is now saying that it will feature at this week’s event.
To back up their claim, they noted that the entire Resident Evil series recently went on sale. While not unusual in and of itself, the timing is notable; the sale began shortly before the 4th of June. Capcom often holds such sales ahead of a reveal, and the 4th was the original date of the PS5 event. (When the game’s reveal might originally have been scheduled.) Of course, this could merely be a coincidence, but it can’t be ruled out as a possibility.
As of yet, Sony has not confirmed any title which might feature at the event. The most credible rumour thus far is that the event will feature the reveal of the 2020 Call of Duty. Given Capcom’s close ties with Sony, particularly with regards the Resident Evil series, a Resident Evil 8 reveal certainly isn’t out of the question either. As such, Resident Evil fans should probably tune in to the PS5 event on Thursday.
