What will it be like to watch the PlayStation 5 start up? We might have some idea, thanks to a video that is making rounds that showed up on Reddit. This video gives us a look at the PS5 startup sequence and controller as well as a little bit of the user interface. Let’s take a look for ourselves.
Here is a Possible Glimpse of the PS5 Startup Sequence and Controller
Here is the video from Reddit:
The video lasts for 24 seconds. In it, you see what is apparently a black version of the DualSense controller along with a screen. The PlayStation logo appears on the screen after a few seconds. A couple seconds later some text appears. You then see some abstract sparks flying around. This is followed by the appearance of a screen that prompts you to select a user.
The entire process seems rather slow, and not dissimilar to the PS4’s boot sequence. Alas, it would be nice if it were more in line with the fast PS3 boot. But, we can’t have everything, right?
So, is this video authentic? We cannot say with any certainty. It seems like if it is, it probably features a devkit rather than the consumer version of the PS5. But it is possible that the entire video is a fake as well. Its overall quality is pretty good though, so it is convincing enough that we think it might be real.
The PS5 will come out on November 12th. You can buy an all-digital version or a full version that includes a disc drive. The former costs $399.99, and the latter costs $499.99. Pre-orders ran out almost instantly for both on Amazon and other major retailers. Keep up with future updates on the PS5 in our PlayStation news area.
