It’s looking like an exciting NBA season on the way for the Los Angeles Lakers among a number of other teams. With Anthony Davis officially going the Lakers’ roster, he’ll now team up with LeBron James to try to win a championship. Ahead of their season, NBA 2K20 revealed Davis as cover star. AD was also recently on hand to help 2K’s crew reveal the top 20 player ratings. He admits he’s an avid gamer, but it appears teammate LeBron James is taking things to a different level.
LeBron James shows off NBA 2K demo of Lakers
Two of the league’s top 10 stars will team up this season as Anthony Davis and LeBron suit up for the Lakers. Late on Wednesday night, Bleacher Report retweeted a video clip that LeBron shared showing what’s to come. It was him using what could be the NBA 2K19 or 2K20 game for “practice.” Yes, we’re talking about practice here, Mr. Iverson. King James appears to be perfecting the pick and roll with his new teammate Anthony Davis on the virtual hardwood.
In the clip below, he gets the pick from AD against Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets. They work it well, as Davis rolls to the hoop for an ally oop with Paul Milsap unable to stop him. In another play, he has another new teammate, DeMarcus Cousins, set a screen. LeBron drives to the hoop and then kicks back out to Boogie for a wide-open attempt at a three. Is this a sign of what’s to come this season? LeBron James and Lakers fans are certainly hoping so!
It’s an interesting choice of opponents too. Last year, Denver was among the best in the Western Conference, and they didn’t lose much heading into the new season. They also boast Nikola Jokic, who is amongst the top 20 NBA 2K20 player ratings as of this past Monday. The All-Star big man is proving to be a force to be reckoned with.
Lakers boast top duo in NBA 2K20, for now
However, Anthony Davis is also a force, and based on the recent 2K20 ratings reveal, he’s part of the league’s best overall duo. The pairing of Davis with LeBron netted a 93.5 overall average rating based on LeBron’s 97 and Davis’ 94. That was just a half-point ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers’ new duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Kawhi has a 97 overall rating just like LeBron, leaving fans wondering if the King was disrespected.
Of course, LeBron James and AD also have to contend with other duos in the Western Conference. It’s not only the Clippers and Nuggets but also James Harden and Russell Westbrook in Houston. Other teams they’ll need to watch out for include the Utah Jazz and perhaps the Golden State Warriors. The West will be an interesting playoff chase once again, but the Lakers look like they should be there.
It’s a good thing LeBron James is getting his practice in virtually, to prepare for what the competition may try to throw at them!
