A massive LEGO Overwatch collaboration was just announced by Activision Blizzard today. This joint venture sees two huge franchises in the entertainment industry join together to create more fun that is specifically geared towards a younger audience that crosses over with the Overwatch community. However, it is worth noting from the outset that this isn’t a LEGO Overwatch game, but instead, for the overall toys realm.
The LEGO Overwatch collaboration was announced by a division of Activision called the Activision Blizzard Consumer Products Group during Licensing Expo 2018. The division is dedicated to furthering the merchandise opportunities for the variety of Activision properties including Overwatch. Along with the LEGO Overwatch announcement, there are many other merchandising collaborations that are coming soon.
Other merchandise collaborations include Call of Duty, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, and more. However, the LEGO and Overwatch venture is the one that has lit the game’s active community on fire. LEGO toy sets will be available for purchase that allows fans of the popular first-person shooter to build sets based on the game at various price points. We suspect that the LEGO sets will allow you to construct maps from Overwatch.
However, that isn’t the only entertainment merchandise you can expect to see in stores soon from Overwatch. UNIQLO will be selling a line of exclusive Overwatch apparel as part of its Spring and Summer 2018 clothing lineup. Finally, Nerf will have a line of blasters and other gear based on Overwatch so fans of the game will be able to test out their favorite guns and gear in real life.
In related news, the Overwatch Director has expressed interest in cross-platform play for the game so that players on different versions can play together. For more information on the possibility of being able to play with other platforms, check out this post.
