Ubisoft announced three DLC expansions for Far Cry 5 shortly after the game’s release. Now, months later, two of those three have now been released. Have they followed a pattern? And, can we now predict when the final Far Cry 5 DLC, Dead Living Zombies, will release? Most likely, yes.
The Far Cry 5 DLC Release Schedule
Ubisoft released the first piece of Far Cry 5 DLC, Hours of Darkness, launched on the 5th of June; around two months ago. Lost on Mars, the second installment, followed on the 17th of July. In both instances, Ubisoft didn’t reveal the release date until one week prior. Given that time-frame, it seems reasonable to predict that the final installment, Dead Living Zombies, will release somewhere around the end of August.
Thus far, Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 DLC has mostly gotten mixed reviews. Certainly, both Hours of Darkness and Lost on Mars fell short of the original game’s reception, from both fans and reviewers alike. Dead Living Zombies will be the studio’s last chance to win back some favor, or else Far Cry 5’s DLC probably won’t be remembered in the same way that Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is. That is assuming, of course, that it is actually going to be the final DLC for Far Cry 5.
Earlier this week, Greg Bryk, the voice actor who portrayed Joseph Seed, the main antagonist of Far Cry 5, posted online what appeared to be a teaser for the character’s return. It’s unknown what that teaser might have been referring to; he posted a photo of himself with motion-capture dots on his face. That certainly suggests that he was recording lines for the character. It seems much too early for Ubisoft to be at the stage of recording lines for the next Far Cry game. However, what is perhaps more likely is that the studio could be working on additional story DLC for Far Cry 5. Fans will have to wait and see.
