Madden 19 NFL Playoffs Simulation: Chargers Vs. Patriots, Eagles Vs. Saints Divisional Round Results
Our Madden 19 NFL Playoffs simulation correctly picked the Divisional round results on Saturday. The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams are moving on to the next stage of the postseason. For Sunday, it’s two more exciting matchups. Here’s what our Madden 19 NFL Playoffs simulation results are for the Chargers vs. Patriots and Eagles vs. Saints games.
Madden 19 NFL Playoffs Simulation: Chargers vs. Patriots 1st half
Both favorites were winners in yesterday’s Madden playoff results. Is there an upset brewing for Foxborough today? In the first quarter, Tom Brady goes to work for the Patriots and leads a drive down the field. They get close enough to score but only get a 20-yard field goal. It’s 3-0 Patriots. Philip Rivers answers back with a drive including a 19-yard pass to Hunter Henry (questionable today) and a nine-yard pass to Antonio Gates. Melvin Gordon surges with a 31-yard rushing TD to make it 7-3 Chargers.
In the second, LA’s defense gets a pick-six via Casey Hayward Jr. to make it 14-3. However, Brady and the Pats respond. The veteran QB finds Chris Hogan on a 20-yard pass and James White on a 29-yard grab. Gronkowski’s reception adds another 25 yards on the drive. It culminates with a Rex Burkhead two-yard touchdown. The Patriots stop the Chargers’ drive and score before the half on a key drive. Brady finds Dorsett on an 11-yard TD in the endzone and Pats lead it 17-14.
The Patriots add insurance via Gostkowski’s field goal in an uneventful third quarter. It’s 20-14 Pats heading to the final quarter, where the Chargers erupt. On one drive, it’s a Rivers to Henry 12-yard score. On another, he orchestrates a drive which ends with a two-yard Tyrell Williams touchdown. It’s 28-20 visitors. Brady leads the Pats back for a huge drive. James White punches it in from the 1-yard line. The Pats convert two points.
Madden 19 NFL Playoffs Simulation: Chargers vs. Patriots 2nd half, final stats
It’s 28-28 with just over a minute to go, but Rivers won’t be denied. He guides his offense down the field into scoring territory. They get within range for Badly to nail a 38-yard field goal. Down 31-28, there’s just one second on the clock for the Pats who can’t answer back. Final score: 31-28 Chargers
Brady goes 27-for-44 with 358 yards, a touchdown, and a costly pick-six. Rivers finishes 24-of-36 with 285 yards and two TDs. Melvin Gordon is a key player in the Chargers’ win with 127 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries.
In terms of receivers, Chris Hogan has nine catches for 118 yards but no scores. The Chargers’ Henry has 104 yards and a touchdown. He’s questionable for today’s NFL game, so it’ll be interesting to see if he’s good to go.
Madden 19 NFL Playoffs Simulation: Eagles vs. Saints
Nick Foles and Philadelphia try to keep the magic alive as they visit Drew Brees and the No. 1 seed New Orleans Saints. No lie, as the simulation gives us a tight and somewhat boring first half. Both offenses are unable to come up with any endzone scores. Instead, each side is able to tally a pair of field goals. We go into halftime with a 6-6 score. Hopefully, that’s not the case in today’s NFL game, Madden.
Our second half proves to be the much more exciting action of the game. Brees finally leads a drive down the field and hits Tedd Ginn Jr. for a touchdown to make it 13-3 home team. Foles and the Eagles answer back. His drive includes a 23-yard pass to Zach Ertz and then a 13-yard TD to Ertz. It’s 13-13. Don’t blink, though, as Alvin Kamara takes off just before the end of the quarter. A 75-yard run makes it 20-13 Saints.
In the final quarter, it’s all Eagles as they look to advance. Lutz misses on a Saints’ FG early. Foles leads another scoring drive which ends with Alshon Jeffrey getting a two-yard TD. It’s now 20 all. However, Philly’s defense keeps the Saints in check. With the ball back, Foles is on point and finds Tate for a 42-yard reception with the score. The Eagles take a 27-20 lead. That defense holds the Saints back on a potential tying drive. Final score: 27-20 Eagles
Madden 19 NFL Playoffs simulation: Eagles vs. Saints’ final stats
Foles comes up big in this one with 318 yards and three touchdowns on 24-for-42 passing. Brees has 268 yards and one TD on 26-for-37 passing. Kamara rushes for 156 yards and a touchdown, but the Eagles have a pair of 100-yard or more receivers. Erz has 103 yards and a touchdown while Tate gets 135 and a TD. Eagles fans are hoping this is today’s result. Based on our Madden sim, it could be a day of upsets, so stay tuned.
