In a recent Madden 19 players update, CBS late night show host Stephen Colbert joined a roster. The show host tried to prove his worth on the gridiron and perform in a way that would bring him better Madden 19 player ratings. Colbert needed a bit of help, but unfortunately, he had a tough task ahead of him, even in the video game world.
Madden 19 player ratings: Stephen Colbert joins a team
Stephen Colbert mentioned on his recent Super Bowl 53 show that he has a love for the sport of football. However, a condition called “mortality” prevented him from making it. However, Madden 19 allows gamers to create a virtual version of themselves and try to show their skills in the game. That’s exactly what EA Sports did for Colbert, by first bringing him to the New York Jets training center. Jets quarterback Sam Darnold was part of the process to help Colbert out as much as he possibly could.
During the tests, Colbert tested his speed, power, agility, and overall skills. Not only did he have Darnold’s help but several imposing defensive players he couldn’t quite move, as expected. The end result was adding Colbert as a member of the Miami Dolphins. Colbert and his Late Show team posted a GIF image on Twitter to show off a bit.

After going through all the tests, Colbert also sat down with Madden NFL producer Ben Haumiller. During that meeting, he learned about his Madden 19 player ratings. They included decent numbers of Accuracy, Speed, and Awareness. However, his overall rating didn’t please the Late Show host too much. He tried to argue for a better elusiveness but Haumiller wasn’t having it. Here’s a look at the 5-foot-11, 54-year-old’s overall skills as a rookie halfback for the Miami Dolphins.
So the ratings were unkind, but realistic for him as a player of his age and abilities. That said, Stephen Colbert also found he could participate in the game as a coach. That allows him to stay safely on the sidelines and run Madden 19 offense or defense without getting smashed into the virtual turf.

Unfortunately, gamers will need to create their own Stephen Colbert for their Madden 19 teams. However, they may want to give him a nicer set of ratings if they really want to compete with tough teams.
