With Madden 19, everyone is getting their game on as Super Bowl 53 is quickly approaching. That includes some of the NFL’s biggest stars who play one another for bragging rights. Days ago, there was a Rob Gronkowski vs. Todd Gurley Super Bowl showdown on Madden 19 for Xbox One. More recently, a few other players who didn’t make it to the big game went one-on-one on the sticks.
Madden 19 Super Bowl 53 showdown involves Gordon vs. Smith-Schuster
The latest battle featured Melvin Gordon III of the Los Angeles Rams and JuJu Smith-Schuster of the Pittsburgh Steelers. These two players had great seasons in their own right. Gordon’s Chargers were eliminated from the playoffs by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. JuJu’s Steelers just missed out on making it due to the final results on the last day of the season.
The EA Sports Madden Twitter account posted a video to show off what went down between the two stars of the gridiron. It includes some pre-game training and hype with the matchup highlights afterward.
The two players had a “mock” Super Bowl 53 matchup involving their respective teams. That matchup won’t happen anytime soon as both teams represent the AFC. If anything, it would be an AFC Championship Game. Based on the footage, it could be a lopsided matchup in the real game, or it could be that one of these players is better at Madden.

In the Madden game, Smith-Schuster carries an 87 overall rating. That includes an Awareness of 95, Accuracy of 92, and Speed of 91. Fellow receiver Gordon III has a rating of 91 overall. That includes 92s for Awareness, Speed, and Agility as well as a 91 for Accuracy. Not bad for these players if they’re part of one’s team in Madden.
As seen above, one player dominated the other in this matchup. However, the losing player in the game may have the last laugh as he is the wide receiver with the Madden 19 Team of the Year spot.
These two stars are likely to continue honing their skills in the real and virtual game for future matchups.
