Madden 19 Ultimate Legends: Tony Gonzalez, Ray Nitschke Join MUT Lineup

While the NFL Draft has been an offseason focus for Madden, they never forget about the legends of the game. This weekend brings several more Madden 19 Ultimate Legends to the mix. They include former Kansas City Chiefs star Tony Gonzalez and Green Bay Packers defensive standout Ray Nitschke. Here’s a look at their two new Madden Ultimate Team player cards in the game.

Madden 19 Ultimate Legends’ Tony Gonzalez

First up, we’ve got Tony Gonzalez who spent his first 12 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. During that time, he tallied 10,490 yards and 76 receiving touchdowns on 916 receptions. He’d finish his career out with the Atlanta Falcons, racking up another 4,187 yards and 35 touchdowns there. He ranks sixth all-time amongst receivers for total yards and first amongst tight ends. That certainly makes him a legend of the gridiron.

He brings the heat with his new 98 OVR Ultimate Legends card. It features a 98 Catching, 97 Short Route Run, 96 Catch in Traffic, and 96 Spectacular Catch. All of those are packaged with the 6-foot-5 tight end for gamers’ MUT rosters making Gonzalez a great option for the passing game.

There are a lot of Ultimate Team gamers out there using the Kansas City Chiefs for competition. Just imagine adding a 98 OVR Tony Gonzalez to the Team Chemistry along with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. It’s a dream pairing that is only seen within the video game.

Madden 19 Ultimate Legends Ray Nitschke

As with previous Ultimate Legend releases, there also needs to be a solid defender along with the elite level offensive threat. This weekend’s defensive star is none other than all-time great Ray Nitschke. The former Green Bay Packers linebacker played from 1958 through 1972. During that time he had 25 interceptions for 385 total yards and two touchdowns. Nitschke also had 23 fumble recoveries, participated in 11 playoff games, and was a two-time First-Team All-Pro selection.

His card (shown below) is also bringing the 98 OVR rating. Top attributes include his Tackle and Play Recognition, both of which are 97s. Nitschke also has a 94 Hit Power and Block Shedding along with 92 Acceleration and 90 Strength. Not too bad at all to help strengthen that MUT defensive unit. If you’re running with the Packers as your Ultimate Team, even better.

There are editions of these Ultimate Legends available through the Madden Ultimate Team Store in the game. There are a number of Ultimate Legends Packs or Bundles available there. They range in price from 1,200 points up to 12,000 points. There are also options to buy using coins.

Of course, there’s also the Auction House where gamers can bid or “buy now” for these particular Ultimate Legends cards. Cards will range in asking price. Recent prices we saw were 250,000 Coins or higher for Nitschke. The Gonzalez card had less availability but was fetching near 300,000 coins for “Buy Now.”

Gamers can also complete new solo challenges to earn these Legends for their roster. They won’t be at the 98 OVR ratings level, though. The first of the MUT Challenges is for the Tony Gonzalez 88 card, along with 3,000 coins. By completing that challenge, gamers earn those rewards and unlock the next challenge which is to earn Ray Nitschke. So that gives MUT gamers plenty to work towards this weekend along with the new Path to the Draft options.
