Every so often, EA’s Madden 19 adds legends of the gridiron to their Ultimate Team mode. That’s the case this weekend as some of the former greats in the game are now “in the game.” Among them are former Buffalo Bills receiver Andre Reed and former Denver Broncos defensive star Steve Atwater. There’s also a special Madden 19 Ultimate Team Legends card available for a limited time. Here are the latest details.
Madden 19 Ultimate Team Legends: Andre Reed
On Saturday, the EA Madden Ultimate Team folks unveiled three brand new Legends player cards for gamers to go for in the game. Andre Reed was one of those legends, and rightfully so. He spent 16 years in the NFL with the bulk of his years spent as part of the Buffalo Bills offense.
Reed finished with career totals of 13,198 receiving yards and 87 touchdowns on 951 receptions. He’s also got 500 rushing yards on 75 attempts and a touchdown there. The star receiver was a part of the Bills’ teams that made it to four-straight Super Bowls but unfortunately lost.
As seen on his new Madden 19 Ultimate Legends card, Reed brings an impressive 98 Medium Route Run score, as well as a 96 on Short Route, 95 Deep Route, and a 96 Catching. Basically, with all those receiving numbers in the mid-to-high 90s, he’s well worth picking up for a roster in need of that dependable receiver.
Madden 19 Ultimate Team Legends: Steve Atwater
In addition to the highly-skilled offensive star Andre Reed, defensive star Steve Atwater is now available in Madden 19 Ultimate Team legends format. Atwater had a 10-year career in the NFL with nine years as a member of the Denver Broncos. His final season saw him retire as a member of the New York Jets.
Still, it’s hard to ignore what he accomplished with 24 interceptions, including one for a touchdown, as well as 1,038 solo tackles, and six forced fumbles in his career. Atwater also has two Super Bowl rings thanks to his part in the Broncos’ back-to-back wins in 1998 and 1999.
Just like Reed’s, the Steve Atwater MUT Legends card below sports a 97 OVR. What stands out are his 96 Hit Power, 96 Pursuit, and 96 Play Recognition. He also brings 94 Acceleration and Zone Coverage scores to the secondary for MUT gamers. Atwater previously had a limited-time MUT card rated at 94 OVR so this is certainly a nice upgrade.
Madden 19 Ultimate Team Legends: Limited time Paul Krause
There was one other Madden 19 Ultimate Team Legends card revealed: Paul Krause. Newer NFL fans will have to dig deep into the history books to learn about the defensive star. He was a member of the Redskins for the first four years of his career before becoming a defensive fixture with the Minnesota Vikings.
Krause’s career spanned 1964 through 1979, showing his longevity in the game. His stats included 81 interceptions for 1,185 yards and three TDs. Krause also had three forced fumbles, 19 recoveries, and three touchdowns of fumbles in his career.
Here’s a look at the limited-time availability card for Paul Krause in Madden 19. As seen he’s a 97-rated free safety in the game with a 98 Zone Coverage and 97 Play Recognition. His other numbers aren’t too shabby with mostly low-to-mid 90s in key skills categories.
Paul Krause had a 93 overall previously. Gamers should be on the hunt for the new 97-rated Krause card in the Madden 19 Ultimate Team packs since it’ll be a limited-time availability card. The other two cards don’t seem to carry that same situation, but if you want a legend like Krause, get those packs, or head to the marketplace.
Some of the previous Madden 19 Legends cards included Terrell Suggs, Greg Olsen, and Calvin Johnson. Early reviews of the latest legends trio seem to indicate that the Andre Reed is one to try to add to a roster. His 90s across the board on that card make him one smart option for your offense.
Gamers, how do you feel about the additions of Reed, Atwater, and Krause in this format? Any of these cards in particular you’re going for?
