Madden 20 Cover Athlete Patrick Mahomes Leads Chiefs to Super Bowl 54 Win
The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champions! On Sunday night, it was the Madden 20 cover athlete Patrick Mahomes guiding his team to a second-half comeback. When all was said and done, Mahomes and the Chiefs claimed a 31-20 victory to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Here’s the latest on the big game and what it means for the Madden 20 video game.

Ahead of the NFL season, EA’s Madden 20 made the smart pick with their cover star. It was a no brainer to put the league’s MVP front and center representing the popular football game. That worried some Chiefs fans, though, as the infamous “Madden curse” loomed. In the past, it was believed that it struck certain stars on the game’s cover, bringing them injuries or other unfortunate circumstances for their careers. Not the case for Mr. Mahomes.
Through the first half, things were even, as both teams managed to score a field goal and a touchdown. The Chiefs’ early TD came courtesy of none other than Mahomes with a rushing score for his team. It was 10-10 at halftime in an exciting game.
However, the 49ers would step it up in the second half. Thanks to several big plays on defense, San Francisco would go up 20-10. They’d hold that lead in the fourth quarter, but Patrick Mahomes wasn’t done. According to ESPN, the Chiefs QB finally woke up and threw a 44-yard down the field to Tyreek Hill. Shortly after, he connected on a one-yard strike for a TD to Travis Kelce.
That would cut the game to 20-17. After a defensive stop, Kansas City regained possession and then Mahomes led them down the field, ultimately getting a five-yard TD pass to take the lead. Late in the fourth, they’d add another touchdown, this time courtesy of a 38-yard run from Damien Williams.
Super Bowl predictors, Mahomes wins MVP Award
The Madden 20 cover athlete was named Super Bowl MVP following his impressive performance in the big game. Mahomes finished with286 yards and two touchdowns after a 26-for-42 passing performance. That means that gamers that put together a special set of cards will receive the special 99 overall card for the Super Bowl MVP in Ultimate Team.
There’s also the special Super Bowl Predictor tokens that Madden 20 had for the big game. These allowed gamers to predict various aspects of the big game. Gamers receive a certain amount of Madden Coins for making correct predictions. Here’s a look at some of those predictions:

Most likely, these particular cards will have a Quicksell option on Monday around the same time that other awards arrive for Ultimate Team Solos. As far as the special MVP card, that may also appear at some point on Monday, February 3 in Ultimate Team mode.
