Let the Madden 20 player ratings debates begin! The fourth and final member of the exclusive 99 Club was revealed by EA’s Madden on Friday, July 12. It’s none other than the Houston Texans’ DeAndre Hopkins. The wide receiver is the only offensive player to join the club for the coming year as the three other stars play on the other side of the ball. Here are more details about Hopkins, the Madden 20 player ratings, and who didn’t make the club.
Madden 20 player ratings reward DeAndre Hopkins with 99 Club
DeAndre Hopkins has been putting in work for the Houston Texans, and the EA Madden ratings folks are giving him a deserved 99 overall. They unveiled via @TheCheckDown that Hopkins is the fourth member of this year’s 99 Club for Madden 20 player ratings. Check out Hopkins’ image in all his glory on the mural out in Los Angeles.
Hopkins credits his recent success not to his mother, father, or college coach. Instead, the Houston Texans shared a humorous video in which Hopkins works with coach King Keraun. He’s a comedian based out of Los Angeles who grew up in H-Town. Who knew that this is what it takes to get into playing shape to become a 99 overall for Madden?

All joking aside, Hopkins had 115 catches on 163 targets for 1,572 yards last season. That’s the most of his career so far and it was second only to the Atlanta Falcons’ Julio Jones last season. Hopkins also scored 11 touchdowns, tied for second-most with his 2015 season. On average, he had 13.7 yards per reception.
Madden posted a new screenshot showing off DeAndre Hopkins’ special Superstar X-Factor abilities that gamers can unleash with him in Madden 20.
In terms of the “intel” on Hopkins, EA indicates his ranks best in Madden 20 in five different attribute categories. Hopkins will have a 99 rating for Catching, Jumping, Spectacular Catch, Catch in Traffic, and Release. Not bad at all.
Who else is in the 99 Club and who missed out?
As mentioned, DeAndre Hopkins joins three of the NFL’s biggest defensive stars. The first representative revealed for the 99 Club in the Madden 20 player ratings was Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald. He’s the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Next up, was Seattle Seahawks’ linebacker Bobby Wagner, followed by the Chicago Bears’ Khalil Mack.
With the reveal of all four players for the Madden 99 Club, it starts up the debates on who missed out. Last year’s game had a total of seven guys with 99 overalls in the Madden player ratings. That included the New England Patriots’ Tom Brady and his teammate, now-retired tight end Rob Gronkowski. Gronk won’t be on the roster, but was Brady snubbed for the current game? Time may be catching up with him.
Some gamers speculated that Patrick Mahomes and Julio Jones might be deserving of 99s for the upcoming Madden 20 player ratings. Aaron Rodgers was another member of last year’s club. It seems these guys didn’t quite get there. However, with a full season ahead, there’s plenty of room for more members to play their way into the club!
Madden 20 arrives for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 2, 2019, with pre-order copies arriving three days earlier.
