When the NFL Playoffs’ Wild Card Round concluded, there were four teams ousted from the postseason. One of those was the New England Patriots, who saw their latest quest for a Super Bowl cut shorter than usual. On the other side of that contest were the Tennessee Titans, led by a surging running back. Due to those results, several players received a Madden 20 player ratings update including winner Derrick Henry, and losing quarterback Tom Brady.
Madden 20 player ratings update boosts Henry, Metcalf
When it comes to top offensive performers in the Wild Card Round, it’s hard to argue against Derrick Henry. The Tennessee Titans running back went for 182 yards and a touchdown on the ground in his team’s 20-13 win over New England. Henry, also the regular-season rushing yards leader now moves up by a point to become a 90 overall. In particular, his speed went up a point to a 91. However, as mentioned in an earlier report, Henry still lacks X-Factor ability in the game.
The other player who moved up in the Madden 20 player ratings update is the Seattle Seahawks’ DK Metcalf. The rookie wide receiver was a top target for Russell Wilson in the win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Metcalf had seven receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown to help his team reach the Divisional Round. He becomes and 80 overall after one-point boosts to Awareness (82) and Strength (78).
Tom Brady, Drew Brees drop after their disappointing playoff games
It could be a matter of “out with the old, in with the new” for two of the game’s elite level quarterbacks. Tom Brady was recently amongst the four NFL 100 quarterbacks in Madden. Drew Brees was not included in the list, but is one of the greats, holding most of the all-time passing records in the league. Both are former Super Bowl champions and Pro Bowlers.
However, both of them came up on the losing side of things for the Wild Card Round and now fall in Madden 20 player ratings. Brady had a 20-for-37 performance for 209 yards against Tennessee, but a late-game interception hurt any chance of a Patriots comeback. Brees had a similar performance. While he had a TD pass, he was 26-for-33 with 208 yards and an interception. Opposing quarterback Kirk Cousins outplayed him too.
According to EA Madden’s report, Brady’s overall is down a point to 91, with a one-point drop in his Awareness to 95. Brees falls by two points to a 94 OVR after being an honorary 99 Club member several weeks ago. These two are still all-time greats, and both will go down in history as two QBs near the top no matter what their futures hold.
