Madden 20 Running Game: How to Stiff Arm, Hurdle, Spin, & Juke in Madden 20

Knowing how to be effective with the ground game is helpful for many reasons in Madden 20. In most cases, novice gamers think just using the direction stick and acceleration button is their best weapon. However, there are several other moves you want to be able to use with your running back, quarterback, receiver, or defender who gets the ball. In this Madden 20 running game guide we’ll look at how to stiff arm, hurdle, spin, juke, and dive as needed!

Madden 20 running game: How to spin & juke

First, know the basics of the Madden 20 running game. When you’ve selected a play which will involve your back, know the pattern they’re going with. It’s important to stay behind blockers on the running route. You can use the left stick to direct your player. The other key tip is to wait on using the bumper for acceleration. It’s best to use this when you’ve got some space to take off. Otherwise you’re going to burn out your players.

Spinning is the most basic of techniques and a move to use sparingly like the rest. It can be helpful at some times, but if used too carelessly, can just result in spinning right into other defenders. When used effectively, it can help your back gain separation from a defender or defenders.

To spin in Madden 20, as your running the ball press the Circle button on the PS4 controller, or press the “B” button on the Xbox One controller.

The juke move is more of a side-to-side fake out move that the running backs can use. To do the juke in Madden 20, simply press side-to-side using the right stick on your PS4 or Xbox One controller. You can combine that with the spin for some unique rushing tricks when trying to elude the defense.

How to stiff arm to fight off opponents

A stiff arm allows your running back (or other players) to fend off a nearby aggressive defender. It’s best for a one-on-one situation with someone to the side of you. You’ll be able to push them off balance and depending on your back’s strength, even push them to the ground, giving a clearer path.

To stiff arm in Madden 20, you’ll press the “X” button on a PS4 controller or the “A” button on an Xbox One controller.

How to hurdle or dive when rushing the ball

Hurdling is a fun trick to have in your bag for the Madden 20 running game. It allows you to jump over a defender coming at you. It won’t always work, but when it does, it’s a thing of beauty. Diving is a trick quarterbacks use mostly on short yardage situations, i.e. the “quarterback sneak.: It’s also something a running or fullback can use in the Madden 20 ground game. Mostly, in the NFL it’s used when a team is near the goal line and a back is trying to dive in for the touchdown.
