Madden 20 Team Ratings: Antonio Brown Signs With New England Patriots
After weeks of turmoil with the Oakland Raiders, Antonio Brown was released from the team per his request on Saturday. Now he’s found a brand new team willing to sign him, and it’s none other than the reigning Super Bowl champions. While there was just a roster update in the past few days, let’s take a look at how this move impacts Madden 20 team ratings.
How Antonio Brown impacts Patriots’ Madden 20 team ratings
In the real-world NFL, the Antonio Brown signing with New England has already boosted their Super Bowl odds. The team was tied for weeks with the Kansas City Chiefs as 6-1 favorites to win the title in 2020. More recently, Sports Illustrated reported the team was a +650 favorite to win it all while Kansas City was at +600 overall. With Saturday’s big news, the Patriots overtook the Chiefs and are now top favorites.
Meanwhile, EA’s Madden 20 is already teasing fans by posting a photo of AB in a New England Patriots jersey. It was more of a promotion for their free trial which includes Superstar KO mode.
As mentioned, a Madden roster update occurred several days ago. However, it’s still possible to see what Brown is like for the Patriots. He’s one of Madden 20’s best wide receivers and best players, as he barely missed getting back into the 99 Club.
By moving him onto the roster, he becomes the team’s top player with his 98 overall rating. Tom Brady is a 96 with Stephon Gilmore a 94. The Patriots have several near-90 OVR players after that including Julian Edelman and Devin McCourty. Let’s not forget that receiver Josh Gordon is returning for the team this season too.
Overall, the Patriots still come in with just an 83 for the Madden team ratings. It’s a point lower than their Sunday night opponents, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and five points below the game’s best team, Philadelphia. However, that’s in the video game world. One has to think this move will work well for a Pats team defending their first title after Rob Gronkowski’s retirement.
How to move Brown to Patriots in the game
Simply scroll to the gear icon on the main screen for Customize. Once there, choose “Manage Rosters.” On the next screen, choose “Manage Players.” Using the L2 on PS4 or left bumper on Xbox One controller, select the Raiders as the team on the upper left corner.
Brown will be the first choice on the Oakland Raiders roster since he was the best player on the team. Press “X” button on PS4 controller to bring up options and choose “Release Player.” Confirm it and Brown officially goes into the free agent pool.
Next, press “Circle” button to return to the Manage Roster screen. Choose the “Sign Free Agents” option. On the next screen, use your controller’s L2 or left bumper to make sure Patriots are the team on the upper left corner. Then, scroll to Antonio Brown on the free agents and press X or the applicable Xbox One button. You’ll need to confirm the signing.
Make sure to save your roster after you’ve done this, and then you can test Brown as a member of the New England Patriots. Ironically, the Pats’ first game of the season arrives on Sunday night against Brown’s former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
