Madden 20 Title Update 1.22 Brings Updated Run Commit Mechanic, New Superstar KO Players, and Gameplay Fixes

The first Madden 20 title update for 2020 arrived on Thursday, bringing a number of changes, additions, and fixes to the popular football title. That included an updated run commit mechanic which is something many top Madden players use in their strategies. There were also updates in terms of Franchise mode, fixes for gameplay, and new players for Superstar KO.

Madden 20 title update 1.22 updates Run Commit mechanic

As mentioned during the EA Madden Twitch stream earlier on Thursday, the run commit can really help improve many people’s Madden performance. As it was explained, it involves a combination of using LB on the game controller and then pressing the right stick n the direction you want your defense to run commit. So that means press to the right to commit right, down to commit to the middle, and to the left to commit left.

The new Madden 20 title update brings improvements in terms of how that will work when it is used in the game. Based on the title update notes, run commit will “be more effective at stopping running plays when used toward the correct side of the run on all game styles.”

This means defenders will move faster than before into their gaps as part of the run commit mechanic.

Gameplay, Superstar KO Draft Pool updates

The updated Run Commit mechanic was a key highlight of the gameplay updates. However, there were a few other glitches or exploits that Madden developers fixed.

Developers fixed an exploit where the “Grab-N-Go” ability became activated on running backs during any RPO play. In addition, they fixed an exploit where gamers could call a fake FG play to get past an “Ice the Kicker” call by opponents.

The title update brings the following Playbooks fixes:

  • Fixed an issue with defensive alignment with Dime Sugar Weak vs. flipped offensive plays
  • Fixed an issue causing zone swapping for 4-3 Even 6-1 and 46 Cub vs. Trips TE/Bunch TE
  • Fixed an incorrect route on Gun Tight Doubles Zig Under
  • Fixed an issue causing a frozen player on Close Z Clown/Close Z Corner

A number of X-Factors and Legends have joined the Superstar KO mode’s draft pool. The new X-Factors are Lamar Jackson, Nick Bosa, Jamal Adams, Devin McCourty, Chandler Jones, and Amari Cooper. For the new Legends, it’s Ed “Too Tall” Jones, Brian Urlacher, Andre Reed, and Randall Cunningham.

They have yet to update Titans RB Derrick Henry to have any Superstar X-Factor, despite gamers continuing to press for it. One has to wonder what it’s going to take for Tennessee’s star to finally achieve that in the game.
