Madden 20 Title Update 1.20 Brings New X-Factors, Superstars, & NFL Live Playbooks
On Wednesday, December 11, EA released Madden 20 title update 1.20 for the game. The latest update made changes in terms of a number of aspects of the game. These included updating the Superstar and X-Factor players in the game, as well as a new form of Live Playbooks. Here’s a look at what’s going on with the Madden 20 game via today’s update.
New X-Factors, Superstars in Madden 20 Title Update 1.20
As the NFL season continues on, some players become noticeably better where others are slumping. That’s usually where Madden ratings adjustors come in. However, it’s hard to ignore that some players are simply showing that they deserve to be X-Factors in the game and leading the way is Lamar Jackson. He recently became the fastest QB ever in Madden, surpassing Michael Vick.
The Ravens star replaces Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers as an X-Factor player. Jackson now has the First One Free as his X-Factor. In addition, he has the Superstar abilities of Escape Artist, Juke Box, and Fast Break. The 49ers’ Nick Bosa also gets X-Factor of Unstoppable Force. He replaces Todd Gurley. Meanwhile, Jets strong safety Jamal Adams takes over from the Cowboys’ Byron Jones and has X-Factor of Reinforcement.
Here are the three other players who are updated X-Factors in Madden 20:
Patriots FS Devin McCourty, replacing Bears FS Eddie Jackson
X-Factor: Zone Hawk
Superstar Abilities: Lumberjack, Pick Artist
Cardinals OLB Chandler Jones, replacing Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott
X-Factor: Fearmonger
Superstar Abilities: Reach Elite, Edge Threat Elite
Updated Jaguars DE Calais Campbell
Replaced Reach Tackle with Inside Stuff
Upgraded or changed Superstars in-game
There were also a number of updated Superstar players as well. They include WR Chris Godwin of the Buccaneers (Route Technician), DE Everson Griffen of the Vikings (Power Specialist), CB Marlon Humprey of the Ravens (Man Up), and LT Ronnie Stanley of Ravens (Secure Protector).

A number of players were downgraded from Superstar to having no abilities in the Madden 20 title update. They include:

- Chargers RB Melvin Gordon, III
- Jets MLB CJ Mosley
- Redskins SS Landon Collins
- Falcons FS Keanu Neal
- Rams RB Todd Gurley
- Browns DE Myles Garrett
What are NFL Live Playbooks?
The Madden 20 title update also brought new NFL Live playbooks into the game. These are alternate offensive and defensive playbooks gamers can use that pretty much match the plays being used by the NFL teams this season. It will also allow the developers to update the playbooks better as the season continues in the final weeks and playoffs.
These new Live playbooks are an option that gamers can choose to turn on or off through the Play Now and Franchise mode. To activate NFL Live Playbooks, go to the main menu’s Game Options settings and switch on “NFL Live Playbooks.” These can also be toggled on at the Team Select screen in the “Advanced Settings” area.
The developers mentioned that they’ll be bringing the NFL Live playbooks to Ultimate Team in the “near future” but they’re waiting for all of the team playbooks to be populated with enough content first. For now, it should be interesting to see if these can help take Madden to a new level by offering exciting new strategies for gamers to use in playing the game.
