Madden 21 Franchise Mode Second Update Brings Draft, Trade Logic, and Commissioner Changes

The second Madden 21 Franchise mode update arrives in the game on Thursday, January 7, and brings a number of changes. They won’t be anything that really shakes up the game, but could be welcomed additions. Among them, will be improvements for the draft and trade logic, as well as updates for various commissioner settings.

What does the second Madden 21 Franchise update include?

EA provided Deep Dive notes for what’s coming in Thursday’s update for Madden 21 Franchise mode. That includes changes, fixes, and improvements in several areas starting with improved Draft Logic.

With CPU QB Draft Logic improvements, CPU teams will now reprioritize drafting a first-round quarterback based on their current QB situation. A number of factors will play into the decision including their current QB’s draft status over the past three drafts, their age, and their OVR.

There will also be changes for Commissioner Controls, particularly when it comes to free-agent signings and team override settings. A commissioner can now undo any FA signings that take place in the offseason by going to the transaction log and clicking on a signing. From there, they can revert it and have that player go back to the available free agent pool.

Commissioners can also override team settings in terms of Heat Seeker tackling, Ball Hawk, and Switch assist. They can choose to turn these on or off or allow individuals to keep their settings. Per EA’s notes, this was one of the “top requested” parts of the Madden 21 Franchise Mode update.

More Commissioner settings and Trade Logic

Commissioners will get more control in terms of Draft tools and House Rules. With the draft, commissioners can assign autopilot during a draft and can also use pause or resume during drafts. This will allow for skipping players on autopilot to advance to the next pick in the draft.

There will also be the ability for Commissioners to set up particular House Rules. These include how many times a play can be called and then how long a player has to wait to use that play again.

With X-Factor customization restrictions, commissioners can determine who edits the abilities on players through the X-Factor Customization tools. These tools were unveiled in the previous update. With the second update, X-Factor Customization tools can be set for Commissioner only, to Any User, or to None.

In addition, this Madden 21 Franchise update brings Trade Logic improvements. Based on the Deep Dive Notes, the updated Trade Logic will bring “more rewarding and authentic trades” to the game. They mention this will be part of the next update as well, so stay tuned for that.

Last but not least, there will be a new tile available in the Franchise Mode display that lets gamers see Super Bowl wins and key award winners for each year of a franchise. Those award winners on display include MVP, Coach of the Year, Offensive/Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Super Bowl MVP.
