The Madden 21 Franchise mode has brought plenty of frustration to fans who feel it needs some major work. It even brought about the “#fixmaddenfranchise” campaign on social media. However, now it appears a major first step in doing that is on the way. Based on EA’s Gridiron Notes on Tuesday, a major Franchise mode title update is set to arrive on November 12.
EA reveals Madden 21 Franchise Mode title update details
Madden 21 Franchise mode receives the first of three updates as EA looks to get things on the right track. In their new Gridiron Notes, EA gives all the details of what to expect when the first title update arrives Thursday, November 12. The update arrives not long after a significant gameplay update, Version 1.15, arrived last week.
EA says the additions or changes made in this Madden 21 Franchise mode title update are due to working with the community in terms of requests or feedback. As the developers mention, they “focused on improving usability for core users of the mode as well as a number of tuning upgrades” with the updates.

For example, the first title update will bring more X-Factor customization, retirement improvements, and updated player cards with career stats. There will now be an improved Playoff Bracket starting in Week 13 with a Playoff Picture tile available ahead of the postseason, among other updates there.

EA planning more updates, significant changes as next-gen launches
The November 12 title update for Madden 21 Franchise mode is the first of three updates, according to EA. Another update is expected to arrive for the game in mid-January.
It comes over a month after the Madden next-gen game launches for the new Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 consoles. The new Xbox Series X/S arrives on Tuesday, November 10, while PS5 comes out two days later on Thursday, November 12.
In mid-January comes the next big Franchise mode update. Based on EA’s notes, the Commissioner Controls will get several upgrades then. These include giving commissioners the ability to undo free agent signings, override team settings, or pause/resume an NFL Draft after assigning it to auto-pilot. It should be welcome news to fans of the mode in a major first step towards making the mode an enjoyable experience.
A few other big parts of the mid-January update will include Dev Trait tuning and Personnel Logic Improvements. See the full details available at EA’s Gridiron Notes.
It now appears that EA is finally working to create a better experience with the Madden 21 Franchise mode. That’s good news as the game moves onto the next-generation of consoles. Time will tell if the community embraces it, but so far things seem to be headed in the right direction.
