Madden 21 Player Ratings: Packers’ Davante Adams Joins 99 Club Ahead of NFL Playoffs
The NFL regular season has officially wrapped up giving way to to the playoffs. With that, 14 hopeful teams will be competing for a shot at the Lombardi Trophy. That includes the No. 1 seed AFC team, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the No. 1 NFC team, the Green Bay Packers. Both teams now features a member of the 99 Club, as Davante Adams has officially received exclusive membership.
Davante Adams enters 99 Club for Madden 21 Player Ratings
On Sunday evening, the Green Bay Packers added another win to their season total, as they defeated the Chicago Bears, 35-16. With the game, Green Bay is now 13-3 and has the No. 1 seed. It also showed the brilliance of Aaron Rodgers who threw four passes in the game, and tied Dan Marino for fifth-most TD’s in a season at 48. Rodgers finished 19-for-24 with 240 yards and zero interceptions in the win.
One of those touchdown passes was caught by wide receiver Davante Adams, who added to his league-leading total of 18 for the season. Adams’ 115 receptions are tied for second and his 1,375 yards are tied for fifth in the league this season.
He was limited a bit in the Bears’ game, but his four-yard touchdown catch also helped him make some history. Per Sports Illustrated, Adams tied Shannon Sharpe and Mark Clayton for third-most receiving touchdowns in NFL history. Those guys also had a few decent QBs throwing to them in John Elway and Dan Marino.
Several days ahead of that Bears game, Rodgers surprised his top target this season with some great news. Davante Adams has officially moved into the Madden 99 Club.
In the video, Rodgers brings his teammate on a live video call and tells him to pick up the package nearby wrapped in bubble wrap. It’s a box containing a special gift. Rodgers officially welcomes him to the club saying “you’re finally getting the due you deserve.”
“Look at that man, what in the world?” Davante Adams said and shows off the shiny “99” chain necklace to Rodgers.
“I only got a plaque when they gave me mine a few years ago,” Rodgers joked.
Mahomes’ Chiefs, Rogers’ Packers on a collision course?
The 99 Club features players who have a perfect rating at 99 overall in the Madden 21 player ratings. He joins five other elite players in the club. Right end Aaron Donald of the Rams, halfback Christian McCaffrey of the Panthers, cornerback Stephon Gilmore of the Patriots, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs were there at the start of the season.
Adams joins fellow wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (Cardinals) and tight end Travis Kelce (Chiefs) as new members added this season. Some gamers feel that top MVP contender Aaron Rodgers should be added as well.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers will now await their NFL Playoff opponents. There will be a Super Wild Card Weekend coming up in which the other six teams will compete to advance.
Both Kansas City and Green Bay get a first-week bye to sit back, relax, and plan ahead for whoever emerges as their opponents. However, both teams also own home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, for what it’s worth in the current climate with fewer or no fans at games.
Kansas City is still the team to beat as they are the reigning champs. However, with Rodgers looking good and Adams receiving the recent Madden 21 player ratings award, it seems this Packers team will be surging with confidence. Will they be the two teams who meet in Tampa for the trophy?
