On Sunday evening, EA’s Madden video game was under the spotlight with the annual NFL Pro Bowl. Two teams of four players each battled in a virtual AFC vs. NFC matchup featuring the official Madden 21 Pro Bowl rosters. In the end, it was the NFC coming out on top with Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray winning MVP.
NFC dominates Madden 21 Pro Bowl, Lynch provides key highlight
With the 2021 rosters at their disposals, two teams of celebrities and NFL stars participated in a Madden 21 Pro Bowl matchup. Heading into it, the 2021 Pro Bowl odds had the AFC favored to win.
The AFC team was led by Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson as one of the four real-life players. He was joined by Titans running back Derrick Henry, former NFL receiver Keyshawn Johnson, and hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg. They took turns on the Madden controls for the AFC Pro Bowl roster.
For the NFC, Cardinals QB Kyler Murray was his team’s lead. His squad included former running back Marshawn Lynch, Seahawks safety Jamal Adams, and NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace. They all rotated controlling the NFC roster during the game.
Based on Madden 21 Pro Bowl results reports, the NFC won in dominant fashion, after jumping out to a 26-6 first-half lead. That was thanks to Murray, who found his teammate Deandre Hopkins for an early virtual touchdown. Running back Dalvin Cook and receiver DK Metcalf also proved instrumental in boosting the NFC’s lead.
While video game highlights are fun, the true highlight of this came from Marshawn Lynch when he broke his chair as he celebrated getting a second interception for the NFC.
NFC picks up big win, Murray named MVP
In the Madden 21 Pro Bowl, the NFC was simply the better side for the video game. They’d go on to win the game, 32-12 behind a strong performance from the Arizona Cardinals’ Kyler Murray, the game’s MVP. Sorry Snoop.
In Madden’s Ultimate Team, the Cardinals QB has several high-rated cards for gamers to use him on their team, including a 95 OVR Club Championship item. Murray also had a 93 OVR card released as part of the MUT Blitz promo last year.
The game was shown live streaming on the EA Madden Twitch channel and NFL social media channels. A replay was set for 8 p.m. Eastern Time on NFL Network Sunday night. The YouTube video replay is also available (below).
It was all fun and games for Murray and the other competitors in the Madden 21 Pro Bowl. Gamers can also play their own simulated game, by heading into the EA video game’s Exhibition menu and choosing Pro Bowl.
The real-world NFL will now shift to Super Bowl LV as all-time great Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Former Madden cover star Patrick Mahomes will look to capture a second-straight title in his young career, while the game’s G.O.A.T., Tom Brady, attempts to capture his seventh.
