It’s another Wildcard Wednesday for EA’s Madden video game, which means another random series of cards arrive for Ultimate Team. For October 7, that new promotion is the Madden 21 Rising Stars, a group of players considered to be future game changers. Among those getting upgraded cards are the Chargers’ Derwin James and Broncos’ Courtland Sutton.
Derwin James, Courtland Sutton among Madden 21 Rising Stars
The new Madden 21 Rising Stars program went live in Ultimate Team with Derwin James headlining the first group of player cards. The Chargers’ safety has been on injured reserve since early September and yet to play a game this season.
However, he’s been the featured star of his weekly streaming show, Derwin James vs. The World. Every Tuesday night, his 10 p.m. ET program has him taking on new challengers in Madden including hip-hop artists, singers, and other celebs. James tends to win, and win big.
Gamers are collecting Tokens by watching James and other shows each week. The end result of collecting enough Tokens is getting three different players to trade in for a high-rated Derwin James card at the series finale.
Until then, gamers have a new upgraded item for him in Madden 21 Rising Stars. It features 89 Speed, 90 Jumping, 87 Zone Coverage, 87 Play Recognition, and 87 Awareness amongst key attributes.
Joining James are Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton, Ravens RT Orlando Brown Jr, and Steelers’ halfback James Conner. In addition, we see another Tampa Bay Buccaneers player, Sean Murphy-Bunting, get a high-rated card one day after Team of the Week 4 included QB Tom Brady.
How to get the new player items
The latest Wild Card Wednesday promotion joins the previous series including Heavyweights and Flashbacks. Gamers can acquire the Madden 21 Rising Stars through the Ultimate Team Auction House, or through packs at the Store.
Each pack currently costs 3,800 Madden Training at the Store and includes one random Rising Stars player. However, the cards have a Quicksell value of 3,600 Training for gamers who want to try to reinvest into another pack at a chance for the player they want.
As one might expect, Derwin James is carrying the highest cost at the Auction House, with MUTHEAD showing prices up to 137,000 Coins. He’s followed by Orlando Brown Jr. and Sean Murphy-Bunting in terms of listing prices, as of this report.
