On Thursday, EA Madden developers released another title update to fix and address various issues in the game. The new Madden 21 title update once again provided tuning or fixes in just about every aspect of the game. The overall gameplay got several noteworthy ones. One of those once again addresses an issue with receivers dropping the ball when they shouldn’t be.
Madden 21 title update 1.14 fixes new gameplay issues
Previously, there had been a glaring issue with receivers having way too many dropped passes. EA’s developers appeared to correct it with update 1.11, but a new issue popped up. It involved a receiver catching the ball and then after a relatively later hit, losing the ball. Basically, this shouldn’t have been happening so much and was hampering gameplay.
To fix it, the new Madden 21 title update 1.14 comes in and tunes the window for catches. As the update notes say:
“We have now made the window for knocking the ball out from a normal collision smaller so defenders will no longer be able to knock the ball out so late.”
There was also a quarterback issue taking place. It involved left-handed quarterbacks always running option run plays to the left, even if the play was supposed to go the right. EA says they’ve fixed that with the new Madden 21 title update, but there will be a future fix as well:
“We are aware that left-handed QB’s are also running the wrong direction on QB Power plays, and that fix will be in a future title update, as we were unable to squeeze it into this one,” a Dev note said.
Other gameplay fixes involved tuning AI pass-rush for All-Pro and All-Madden skill levels, as well as a game glitch where the ball was incorrectly spotted on the 35-yard line on a kick return.
Other fixes for Ultimate Team, Franchise, and The Yard
There were other fixes for the game including changes for Ultimate Team, Franchise, The Yard, and the game presentation. For example, in Ultimate Team developers adjusted how the CPU teams are evaluated in Solo Battles. Additionally for MUT mode, they fixed the issue where a default X-Factor on a player item was showing up on the compare screen between player cards.
While The Yard received just “stability and reliability improvements,” Franchise and Face of the Franchise received the following fixes:
- Face of the Franchise Updates:
- Fixed an issue with users playing as a HB receiving temporary ratings boosts for QB related ratings
- Fixed an issue with some abilities appearing twice in the edit player screen
- Franchise Updates:
- Fixed an issue with older, high OVR Free Agents being removed from the game before users have a chance to sign them
- Fixed an issue where players received Morale and Legacy changes during pre-season games
In addition to the above, some of the game’s presentation aspects received updates. Those included updating End Zones for the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Football Team, updating the Raiders’ field to be a Grass Field and fixing an issue with how Oilers uniforms looked.
The new update is over 2 GB in size and will probably take about five minutes or less to download and install for most gamers. See all of the fixes including more gameplay updates they did at EA’s update notes here.
