With EA’s Madden 20 game, fans of the popular franchise saw a number of new introductions to offer new ways to enjoy the game. Some worked for gamers and others didn’t. Among them were the addition of Superstar X-Factor and Abilities, the QB1 Franchise with College teams, Superstar KO, and the return of the NFL Pro Bowl. With the season over, a new Madden 21 game is our focus here as we look at several feature additions or mode upgrades that could help the upcoming game.
Madden 21 Wishlist – Features or modes to improve the experience in the new game
Madden Ultimate Team continues to be the biggest focus of Madden game and that makes sense because it probably is their main “money maker.” However, that doesn’t change the fact that many gamers enjoy Franchise mode and want even more from it. Here are a few suggested ideas from Redditors to improve Madden 21.
Better Franchise mode / Expansion team customization – This could include the ability to rebrand a team rather than relocate. The ability for gamers to add their own expansion teams into Franchise would be huge. In addition, it could allow gamers to fully customize the look and feel of their team including name, jersey look, stadium, and more.
Improved GM mode – This would include adding in more owner types, having coordinator developments and/or promotions, including former players as coordinators, and signing free agents to “custom contracts” during a season. As a Redditor mentions, “make money matter” by giving it a bigger role in terms of upgrading or coordinators and players. There are other sports games getting this sort of thing right that Madden 21 could look to as an example including MLB The Show.
Career, Throwback, and Co-Op?
Single-player career mode – Similar to MLB’s Road to The Show or the NBA 2K games where you are in control of your player’s overall career. Some fans have even suggested something similar to the way NBA 2K allows gamers to have a player get sponsors for commercials and earn more as a top star. This sort of mode could include a crib for the player as well as a trophy room, which is similar to the popular NBA game’s mode.
Return of “Classic Teams”/Throwback options – As a Redditor mentioned, this could bring in old school teams like the Canton Bulldogs, Acme Packers, Chicago Rams, Boston Yanks, Brooklyn Dodgers, Duluth Eskimos and more. Along with this, possibly have classic coaches in the game such as Tom Landry, Mike Ditka, Bill Parcels.
It’d be a fun addition to play with some historic clubs from the older days of the AFL and NFL. Along with this, having the option to add some of these coaches in Ultimate Team to boost a theme team would be nice.
Co-op Franchise mode – As suggested by a Redditor. This would make for a fun way to enjoy Franchise mode with a friend. Each player would be taking over a different position for the team. For example, one could play quarterback and the other could be a wide receiver or halfback, or even play on defense. It’d make playing through the mode more fun to experience as it moves through the season.
Madden 21 release date details
As of this report, we’re still several months away from the new game. The Madden 20 game featuring Patrick Mahomes on the cover came out on August 2, 2019. Madden 19 had a release date of August 10, 2018, while Madden 18 was out on August 22, 2017.
That gives a wide range of dates but points to August 2020 for the release. Fans are hoping it’s sooner in the month rather than later. They’re also hoping to see at least some of the features they’re asking for to take the franchise to a more enjoyable level.
