While it isn’t quite a full-fledged college football game, EA’s Madden video game seems to be reminding fans one will be arriving in the future. In a brand new promotion called Madden 22 Campus Legends, gamers can now use college theme teams within the Superstar KO mode. The squads consist of some of the all-time greats from 10 different schools including the Clemson Tigers, Oklahoma Sooners, and Michigan State Spartans.
Madden 22 Campus Legends event features 10 college football squads
The Superstar KO mode will feature Madden 22 Campus Legends event for a limited time. This event allows gamers to run with squads that consist of players who came from specific college football teams.
For example, there’s a Clemson Tigers squad complete with No. 1 draft pick Trevor Lawrence at quarterback. He suits up along with other Clemson greats including wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, halfback Travis Etienne, and tight end Jordan Leggett. On the defense, the Tigers include defensive tackle William “Refrigerator” Perry, linebacker Isaiah Simmons, and free safety Brian Dawkins.
A Nebraska Cornhuskers team includes defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and middle linebacker Lavonte David as well as QB Tommy Frazier and halfback Ahman Green, among others. Gamers will find an LSU Tigers squad with QB Joe Burrow, wide receiver Odell Beckham, and safety Tyrann Mathieu. Florida features quarterback Tim Tebow, among other stars from the Gators.
The Oklahoma Sooners team is also stacked. It includes quarterback Kyler Murray, halfback Adrian Peterson, and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Other teams in the event include the Texas Longhorns, Michigan State Spartans, Miami (FL) Hurricanes, Oregon Ducks, and USC Trojans.

The rules are simple for this Superstar KO event which officially started on August 31:
- 4:00 minute quarters
- One foot in bounds when making a play on the ball is considered in-bounds (completes the catch).
- The clock stops after the first downs until the next play is selected.
First Superstar KO reward, historic college rivalry returns online
Along with the Madden 22 Campus Legends event also comes rewards. According to EA’s Madden, the first reward is an Odell Beckham Jr. card with an 85 overall rating. The attributes also include an 88 Speed, 88 Jumping, 81 Catching, and 81 Catch in Traffic. Gamers can unlock this by playing in the Superstar KO mode’s limited-time event.
A gamer asked about using the above OBJ card in his Power Up for Madden Ultimate Team. However, that isn’t possible, and instead, gamers get to use the card art from the Superstar KO reward on his Power Up, if they choose.
Also, along with the launch of the new college football promotion, Madden will feature a live online battle between two of the stars involved in it. It features a classic rivalry between USC and Texas at the Rose Bowl with Trojans’ QB Matt Leinhart and Texas’ Vince Young involved.
The matchup will be presented at 7 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, August 31st via the NFL’s YouTube channel and EA’s Madden Twitch channel. As far as the Madden 22 Campus Legends, the event will last until September 27.
