The Madden 22 Franchise mode is getting a major overhaul in the upcoming EA game, and many fans are looking forward to improvements. On Friday, EA released a complete Gridiron Notes devoted to what’s new for the popular mode. Amongst the major upgrades will be an updated coaching staff system referred to as Franchise Staff.
This will feature a new currency in the mode used for upgrading staff members’ talents. However, there’s always the decision to fire and hire new staff members too. Here are some of the details revealed about the expanded coaching staff in Franchise.
Madden 22 Franchise Mode includes expanded coaching roster
While the Deep Dive All Access video released the other day gave a glimpse of the changes coming to Madden 22 Franchise mode, EA’s new Gridiron Notes are much more in-depth. They include a discussion of the expanded coaching system called Franchise Staff. This will feature Staff Points, Talent Trees, and Talents.
In Franchise, the expanded coaching roster will feature four characters to manage in Coach mode. In addition to yourself as a Coach, there’s an offensive and defensive coordinator as well as a “player personnel department.” That department will help with acquiring players for your franchise. Each of these various staff members can be upgraded thanks to Staff Points.
It’s noted that at the start of Franchise Mode, a staff will already be in place for gamers to work with. During the season, gamers have the option to fire members of their staff and replace them with new staff members from a pool of candidates. A new hire earns a Staff Points bonus, which helps with Talents, as explained below.
Coaching System features new Staff Points currency, Talent Trees
Staff Points are the new currency that is part of the Franchise mode. Gamers can earn these by playing games, achieving gameday goals, and completing certain scenarios. These Staff Points can be used to purchase talents for a staff member’s Talent Tree. It’s also mentioned that Staff Points will not be purchasable through “real-life currency.”
Talent Trees will give each member of the coaching staff “tree structures with various boosts.” They revealed that each of the characters has two sub-trees associated with them upon the game’s release. Below is a look at an example of a Player Personnel’s Talent Tree.
The trees will also branch off in certain directions based on decisions gamers make about how they choose to develop staff members. So, certain branches of the Talent Tree will lock based on those decisions.
As far as the Talents on those trees, there will be over 60 unique Talents when the game launches. Some of them will also have multiple tiers. The Talents will basically fall into Player Growth, Staff Changes/Improvements, On-field Performance, and Player Acquisition/Retention categories.
In a recent video from YouTuber Bengal, he spoke with Andrew Weingarten, who is part of the EA team responsible for the development of Madden 22 Franchise. The video (below) reveals a bit more about some of the different Talents that will be part of Franchise Staff Talent Trees in the mode, along with other changes.
It seems fans of Franchise mode will have plenty to look forward to. In addition to this expanded Coaching Staff system, there’s also the new Season Engine, Weekly Strategy, and updated Franchise Hub. Not only that, a Scouting addition is said to be in the works, and tentatively scheduled for September.
