A recent Madden 22 player ratings update has revealed that the game’s co-cover star, Patrick Mahomes, has fallen from his spot in the 99 Club. The Kansas City Chiefs have had a disappointing start to their season so far, and unfortunately, Mahomes is catching blame. While the former Super Bowl winner and NFL MVP is out, another QB is close, along with several other NFL stars.
Madden 22 player ratings update reveals top 10 QBs
Ahead of the EA football video game’s launch and the NFL season, Patrick Mahomes was revealed amongst stars in the 99 Club. However, the latest Madden 22 player ratings update shows that Mahomes has slipped by a point to become a 98 overall, losing his spot. Meanwhile, the guy who defeated him in this past year’s Super Bowl is right there with him.
Based on a top 10 quarterbacks list that EA revealed, Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ QB Tom Brady is also a 98 OVR in the game. Brady was recently given an upgrade as he threw his 600th career touchdown pass, something no other NFL QB has done. If he continues to guide the Bucs towards another run at the Super Bowl, it’s possible he’ll re-join the 99 Club again.
The Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers checks in with a 96 OVR rating for third-best QB, followed by Seattle’s Russell Wilson (94 OVR) and Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson (92 OVR). Any one of these quarterbacks could end up being in the Super Bowl and winning it.
Currently, TB12 leads the league in total passing yards with 2,650 on 231-of-343 completions. His 25 touchdowns also lead all QBs, with Tom Brady only throwing five interceptions so far this season. While the Bucs’ 6-2 record isn’t best in the NFL, it has Tampa Bay still amongst potential contenders for the postseason.
Several players close to 99 Club membership
In a previous report, we revealed Derrick Henry was close to joining the 99 Club, as the Tennessee Titans’ running back was having another terrific season. He remains a 98 OVR in the latest ratings update, but unfortunately, his season came to an end due to a foot injury against the Colts last Sunday. Henry is now done for the season, which could also hinder the Titans’ chances at getting to the Super Bowl.
While Henry’s chances of getting to the 99 Club have been halted, there are a few other stars close. Based on one of the top 10 lists that EA’s Madden revealed on Thursday (Nov. 4), the Dallas Cowboys’ Zack Martin is a 98 OVR. If he continues his solid play at the position, it may soon be his time to join the 99 Club.
He’s the top overall offensive lineman in the game. Martin’s followed by the Colts’ Quenton Nelson (96 OVR) and 49ers’ Trent Williams (95 OVR). The top edge rusher in the game is Browns star Myles Garrett who is also sitting at a 98 OVR. So he remains close to getting into the club for the first time in his NFL career.
In addition to those players, EA revealed the following “notable” boosts since the game’s launch and start of the season.
- Rams’ Wide Receiver Cooper Kupp (+5 – 91 OVR)
- Cowboys Cornerback Trevon Diggs (+9 – 81 OVR)
- Packers’ Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (+7 – 81 OVR)
- Panthers’ Linebacker Shaq Thompson (+6 – 84 OVR)
