Madden 22 Player Ratings Update Adds Tom Brady to 99 Club After Breaking NFL Passing Yards Record

The legendary Tom Brady made headlines this past week thanks to setting a brand new NFL record. The latest achievement came as part of a Tampa Bay Buccaneers win, over Brady’s former team. While Brady probably isn’t as concerned with the record, EA’s Madden video game was among those recognizing his career feat. He’s now joined the exclusive 99 Club as part of the latest Madden 22 player ratings update.

Tom Brady gets Madden 22 player ratings update to 99

The NFL’s G.O.A.T. Tom Brady is officially in the Madden 99 Club thanks to setting the NFL All-Time passing yards record. This past Sunday evening, Brady led the Buccaneers past his former squad, as Bill Belichick seemed well-prepared for his former star’s return.

The 44-year-old Brady finished the game with 22-of-43 completed passes, good for 269 yards. However, early in the game, he surpassed Drew Brees’ record with 80,560 career passing yards. The retired Brees was watching as part of NBC’s analysts for the game.

That achievement goes along with his seven Super Bowl rings, which solidifies Brady’s status as football’s G.O.A.T. and in many conversations, the G.O.A.T. of professional sports.

On Thursday, October 7, EA’s Madden NFL 22 announced that they had moved him into the special 99 Club, which features players in the game with a perfect rating. He joins cover co-star Patrick Mahomes as the only two quarterbacks in the club.

Brady’s also the second player to break an NFL record as he joins kicker Justin Tucker who also received an upgrade from EA’s Madden. Tucker kicked a record-setting 66-yard field goal to help the Baltimore Ravens edge the Lions just a few weeks ago.

Other members of the 99 Club include defensive stars Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsay, as well as wide receiver Davonte Adams and tight end Travis Kelce. Players get ratings upgrades or downgrades during the NFL season based on their real-world performances.

Other NFL players who had Week 4 rating upgrades and downgrades

The Madden 22 player ratings update rewarded several players who had strong showings in Week 4. Sometimes players on losing teams still get boosts. One of the biggest movers was Javon Hargrave of the Eagles despite them losing to the Chiefs.

Hargrave improved three points to 84 OVR with his Play Recognition boosted by seven points and Awareness up six points. Meanwhile, the Cardinals’ Maxx Williams got a two-point upgrade to become 76 OVR. That included a two-point boost on his Catching, Deep, and Medium Route Running.

Williams is catching those passes from the former No. 1 draft pick Kyler Murray who also got a nice boost. Murray moved up two points to 85 OVR thanks to his over 1,200 passing yards and 12 total TDs in four games.

While several players got decent upgrades, several noteworthy players were downgraded. The Cleveland Browns’ Baker Mayfield went down two points to an 83 overall. That’s due to his disappointing performance for Cleveland so far in 2021 with just two touchdowns thrown. It’s known that he’s without a few top targets in Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry, though.

Also moving down was Rams’ halfback Sony Michel who is now a 77 overall after a two-point drop. For the 2021 season so far, Michel has 34 rushing attempts and 3.7 yards per carry, which just isn’t going to get it done.
