With the anticipated player ratings on the way for EA’s upcoming Madden game, a special will arrive to help get things started. The Madden 22 Ratings Kick-Off Show will give fans the first player rating from the game. Will it be one of the members of the 99 Club, one of the cover stars, or a rookie who has their rating revealed? Here are the details on when and where to watch the Kick-Off special.
Madden 22 Ratings Kick-Off Show announced
Player ratings are a big deal in Madden, to the point it’s now a week-long event for the EA game. This year’s event features top 10 ratings by various positions each day this week.
We recently revealed the upcoming Madden 22 Ratings Week schedule, which brings the first top 10 list for EA’s player ratings on Monday, July 26. However, a Madden 22 Ratings Kick-Off Show will arrive on ESPN on Sunday.
Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson will host the special. He’s also among the Madden Ratings Adjustors and regularly a featured star in Ultimate Team.
Based on the tweet below, this is a SportsCenter special with the former NFL star giving out the first rating for EA’s upcoming Madden NFL 22.
The special arrives at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, July 25 on ESPN. It’ll also be live streaming online through ESPN’s mobile apps or apps for streaming devices. Check out the WatchESPN website for details on how to download and/or install the app. It typically requires having an active login to use, through a cable or satellite provider.
There are also live streaming options such as SlingTV, YouTube TV, and Hulu with Live TV, all of which offer ESPN channels as part of their packages. See details at the respective websites for how to watch ESPN live online.
Based on the listings, this will be a half-hour special arriving on the ESPN channel and streaming apps.
Which player’s rating will be revealed on the special?
Based on Ochocinco’s comments in the video teaser, just one player will have their Madden 22 ratings revealed during the special. Quite possibly, it will be top rookie, Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The former Clemson Tigers quarterback was heralded as one of the best QBs in some time and could benefit from that hype with a top rating among rookies.
However, it’s also possible the rating will go to one of the game’s two cover stars. Quarterbacks Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes share this year’s cover following their clash in the Super Bowl this past February. The expectation is that Mahomes will check in with a 99 overall, while Brady might be a bit lower.
It’s also possible the first rating revealed is for one of the players in the Top 10 for Monday’s Madden 22 ratings reveal on First Take. Chad Ochocinco will be back for that list as he’ll be there for the Top 10 wide receiver ratings for the new game.
Based on what we’ve seen, there are a few potential 99 overall players at that position. They include the Arizona Cardinals’ DeAndre Hopkins and Green Bay Packers DaVante Adams.
