As EA prepares to launch the new Madden video game, they’re revealing all sorts of goodies ahead of the release date. This week features a reveal of the Madden 22 Superstar X-Factor abilities that specific players will have in the game. Monday brought us a look at five quarterbacks with these abilities, and now we’re getting to see which running backs will have them.
Henry, Chubb Madden 22 Superstar X-Factor abilities revealed
For the 2020 NFL season, one running back was clearly a dominant force in the league. Derrick Henry was the only back to rush for over 2,000 yards in the season. He also eclipsed the No. 2 back, Dalvin Cook of Minnesota, by almost 500 yards.
Heading into EA’s football game, Henry didn’t receive a spot in the 99 Club but ranked high amongst the top 10 backs in the game’s ratings. He’ll also be one of the select RBs with a Superstar X-Factor. For Madden 22, he’ll have the Freight Train ability, which returns from previous games.
With this one, he has an increased chance to break the next tackle attempt after he’s achieved three rushes for 10 yards or more. A tackle for a loss takes him out of the zone. In addition to Henry getting Freight Train, it was also revealed that the Dallas Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott will get the same ability.
Nick Chubb of the Browns has proven himself amongst the league’s best backs too. He was one of the eight RBs who ran for over 1,000 yards last season, and his average of 5.6 yards per carry led all backs. For the Madden 22 game, they’ve given Chubb the returning X-Factor called Wrecking Ball.
With the Wrecking Ball, gamers will get A high success rate on their next three trucks or stiff-arm attempts. To trigger the X-Factor, Chubb needs three rushes of 10 yards or more. A tackle for a loss takes him out of the zone, though.
Cook, Kamara, Barkley also have X-Factors
Three other running backs were also included with Tuesday’s Madden 22 Superstar X-Factor abilities. They’ll include top touchdown scorer in 2020 Alvin Kamara of the Saints, Saquon Barkley of the Giants, and Cook of the Vikings.
Kamara will be the only running back with the Satellite ability. With this, he can also act as an elite receiver and wins RAC and possession catches against single coverage. To activate the ability, gamers need Kamara to get three receptions of 10 yards or more. If he has a dropped pass, an incompletion, or three-straight non-targets, he’s out of the zone.
Dalvin Cook and Saquon Barkley will look to improve upon their previous seasons in the NFL. While Cook as second amongst all backs in rushing yards, Barkley had a setback in the 2020 season. An unfortunate ACL tear kept him sidelined for most of the campaign.
They’ll both get the same Madden 22 Superstar X-Factor ability in the upcoming EA game, First One Free. Once they’ve achieved three rushes of 10 yards or more they’ll go into the zone. With First One Free, they get a high fake-out rate on their next juke, spin, or hurdle move. However, a tackle for a loss deactivates the ability.
Check out the quarterbacks’ Superstar X-Factors for Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and more.
The Madden 22 game officially arrives on August 20, 2021, for the PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Windows PCs, and Google Stadia. Gamers who pre-order the MVP or Dynasty edition will get to start playing on August 17, while EA Play members can start playing on August 12.
