After several days of intense competition, one gamer stood above the others as the winner of the Madden NFL 20 Club Championship. Michael “Volterax” Bryant claimed this year’s title, winning a hefty bit of cash and the glory of holding up his Madden Championship belt. Here are more details on Bryant’s win which took place in California on Saturday.
Volterax bests 32 other competitors for Madden NFL 20 Club Championship
Redwood City, California was the host site over the past several days for the Madden NFL 20 Club Championship Finals. There was a prize pool of $703,000 on the line, making it the largest ever for the 2019 MCS event. In addition, 32 competitors were battling to get their share of points towards future competition.
Michael “Volterax” Bryant was able to take the title this year representing the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals. He emerged from the NFC West with a win over DCRroft representing Seattle. From there, Volterax defeated Ztrekingz and NickHacko before winning the semifinals against Schemin.
Volterax displays impressive run game to claim Madden NFL 20 Club Championship
Volterax would take on Madden Bowl 19 winner Drini in the finals on Saturday. It was a record-tying fifth Madden Championship Series Finals for competitive gamer Drini. That challenge didn’t prove too tall for Volterax who was able to handle the veteran competitor en route to an impressive 28-13 victory in the final game.
Volterax held a slim 14-10 advantage late in the second quarter but was able to bust it open with a surprising run. With the clock down to five seconds near halftime, Volterax showed off some fancy footwork with Chris Johnson, ultimately eluding Drini’s defenders and scoring an impressive rushing touchdown. That made it 21-10 at the half.
In the third quarter, Drini got caught in a fourth-and-nine situation. He went for the risky pass but Voltarex’s defender was able to pick it off. A few downs later, he extended the lead. On a 2nd-and-11, Volterax found a wide-open lane for Johnson to take off and get him another touchdown, pushing it to a 28-10 lead.
Clearly, the run game was a strength for Volterax as his Arizona Cardinals back Chris Johnson finished with over 200 yards for the day helping to get the huge win. Drini issued a congratulatory tweet to the new champ after the game.
