Now that you’re a fully-fledged member of the Brotherhood of Steel, it’s time for you to face the source of the Scorched head on. The Fallout 76 Belly of the Beast quests is likely to be one of the most challenging quests you’ve faced thus far. Fortunately, it also offers you a tremendous reward for completing it; a full set of Ultracite Power Armour, arguably the best kind of power armour in the game.
How to Complete the Fallout 76 Belly of the Beast Main Quest
The Fallout 76 Belly of the Beast quest should begin automatically when you complete Recruitment Blues in Fort Defiance. To get started, leave the fort and make your way northeast. You should have an objective marker denoting an area of the map. When you enter this area, your Pip-Boy radio will pick up the Brotherhood Emergency Transponder radio station. Listening to this station will display a signal strength gauge on your HUD, and you can use this to pinpoint the location of several transponders. These devices resemble metal tripods with radar dishes on top, and don’t stand much taller than a person.
The first transponder can be found roughly in the centre of the objective circle on the map. The device is on a metal bridge. Once you sync the transponder turn eastwards. The second transponder sits next to the crashed wreckage of an old vertibird. Unfortunately, these first two transponders aren’t at named sites, so pay close attention to the signal strength gauge. The third transponder, however, can be found at Survey Camp Alpha; an old Brotherhood of Steel field outpost. The fourth and final transponder can be found at Drop Site V9. The device is on the roof of the structure.
The Beast of Glassed Cavern
Once you’ve synced all of the transponders, make your way further east to the Glassed Cavern. This site is very dangerous, so come prepared. You should be able to navigate the caverns using your objective marker and the Brotherhood Emergency Transponder. Unfortunately, the transponder is sitting in a cave which is occupied by a Scorchbeast. While you may have come across these flying monsters before, this is the first time in the main story where you must confront and defeat one. Fortunately, the size of the cave means that it can’t fly, so be cautious of its breath attack and hit it with everything you’ve got.
Once the Scorchbeast is no more, locate the transponder and the body of Taggerdy to find Lieutenant Elizabeth Taggerdy’s ID. You can now return to Fort Defiance, where you’ll head up the fourth floor which you unlocked in Recruitment Blues. Use Taggerdy’s ID to unlock her terminal and then select the “Ultimate Solution,” topic. This will complete the quest and automatically start the next one; “Uncle Sam”. As rewards, you’ll earn a new photo frame, a random aid item, a random weapon plan, a random legendary weapon or armour part, and a full set of Ultracite Power Armour. Providing you’re able to use it, this armour is likely better than anything else you have.
